Στο 16ο Λύκειο Αθηνών είχα εργαστεί ως καθηγητής Φυσικής το μακρινό 1979-80 (αναπληρωτής). Το Σχολείο, τότε, στεγαζόταν όχι στο κτίριο που στεγάζεται σήμερα αλλά σε άλλο -μισθωμένο- λίγο πιο κάτω, στη συμβολή των οδών Καπετάν Πετρούτσου και Κίρρας. Το συγκεκριμένο κτίριο παραμένει εξωτερικά όπως ήταν τότε, διόροφο με μικρά μπαλκόνια και με την ίδια σκάλα εισόδου. Αυτό που δεν υπάρχει, είναι το μεγαλύτερο μέρος του προαυλίου, το οποίο έχει δώσει τη θέση του σε ... πολυκατοικία. Υπάρχει όμως ακόμα το μεγάλο δένδρο κοντά στο κτίριο, μπροστά από το οποίο γινόταν η πρωινή συγκέντρωση. Θυμάμαι ότι το Σχολείο ήταν "οικογενειακό" με πολύ καλά παιδιά και με σημαντικές επιτυχίες στις πανελλαδικές εξετάσεις. Θέλω να πιστεύω ότι η παράδοση αυτή εξακολουθεί ακόμη και σήμερα.

At the 16th Athens High School, I had worked as a physics teacher in the distance 1979-80 (alternate). The school, then, was housed not in the building it currently houses but in another - rented - just below the intersection of Captain Petrutsu and Kirra streets. This building remains exterior as it was then, a two-storey building with small balconies and the same entrance staircase. What does not exist is the bulk of the courtyard, which has given way to a ... apartment building. But there is still the big tree near the building, in front of which the morning gathering took place. I remember that the school was "family" with very good children and with significant success in the national exams. I want to believe that this tradition continues even today.
