Αποτελεί εξέλιξη αρχαίου οικισμού της Βοττιαίας και είναι χτισμένο ανάμεσα στους ποταμούς Λουδία και Αξιό.Στη διάρκειατης Τουρκοκρατίας ονομαζόταν Κιρτζιλάρ(«χέρσα περιοχή»), μέχρι το 1927 οπότε και μετονομάστηκε σε Άδενδρον.
Οι κάτοικοι αποτελούνταν από Βλάχους που ήρθαν στην περιοχή στο τέλος του 19ου αιώνα, καθώς και από πρόσφυγες του 1922 περιοχών της Μικράς Ασίας και Θράκης. Αποτελούσε κέντρο διακίνησης προϊόντων και εμπορευμάτων λόγω του Σιδηροδρομικού Σταθμού που υπήρχε και υπάρχει, κατά τον Β' Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο. Οι κάτοικοι παρουσίασαν μεγάλη ευμάρεια λόγω των πρόσφορων εδαφών του Δέλτα από την καλλιέργεια της γης.
Adendro is a town in the Municipality of Chalkidona in the prefecture of Thessaloniki. It is an evolution of an ancient settlement of Vottia and is built between the rivers Loudia and Axios. During the Turkish occupation it was called Kirtzilar ("barren area"), until 1927 when it was renamed Adendron.
The inhabitants consisted of Vlachs who came to the area at the end of the 19th century, as well as refugees from 1922 areas of Asia Minor and Thrace. It was a center for the distribution of products and goods due to the existing and existing Railway Station during World War II. The inhabitants showed great prosperity due to the suitable soils of the Delta from the cultivation of the land.
