3rd Century BC Use for theatrical performances and auditions. The stage and orchestra after the interventions are in good condition, but the hollow is almost empty.

It could be more appropriate for many people as well as other archaeological finds in the area.

The theater of Dimitriados was built at the same time as the founding of the city (in 294-2 BC) by Macedonian King Dimitrios Poliorkitis. Unfortunately no one can visit it because the space is closed. You must first consult with the responsible archaeologist at the Archaeological Museum of Volos.

We saw an amazing show TITAN PROMETHEUS but the space could have been used much better!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The ancient theater of Demetriasis a small theater, with great historical value, situated 2 km southwest of Volos Port and 800 m west to the ancient Palace of Demetrias.
The theater was built simultaneously with the foundation of the city of Demetrias, by the Macedonian king Demetrias Poliorcetes, in 294-292 BC, opposite to the Palace of the Macedonian Kings and below the hill on which stood the Heroon of the Archegetes.
Later on, during the Roman period, it was renovated and finally, was abandoned at the mid-4th century AD.
The site is fenced and is still under excavations, so it is usually closed to visitors and can be viewed just beyond the fence.
In conclusion: a site with high tourism potential, but still requires a lot of renovation and restoration work to bring it back to its glory.
