It’s a well preserved ancient (late Roman) theater that deserves a visit, time permitting. It does not compare with the great (truly ancient) theaters of Athens and Epidavros, but the Byzantine catacombs right next to it gives the visitor a “power-duo” of Greek history.

The ancient theater of Milos is a small renovated Roman theater, located 500 m west to Trypiti village. The original theater is dated to the Hellenistic period in 3rd century BC. It was destroyed during the Roman era and rebuilt out of white marble. The great panoramic view of the sea and the opposite side of the island with the small village of Klima below is simply remarkable! You can reach there via a short footpath of 200 meters from the parking. According to the locals, this trail passes in the place that the Venus de Milo statue was found. Don't miss a visit in the Catacombs site of Milos, 300 m east to the theater.

The theatre has been very well restored and I strongly encourage you to sit down and feel the marvelous atmosphere and view over Klima and the western range of mountains in the backstage.

It's 100m distance from the road. It's safe to go there any time. It's upon a hill and you can sea the village klima there and the see. For an archeological angle. You could see the whole theater and every period of time that have passed. It's free and near catacombs

What an incredible piece of history. It’s stunningly well preserved. Even more impressive is that there was no cost of entry and a great deal of access to walk around the theater and even give your own performance. The acoustics are astounding and we had the whole place to ourselves so it was neat to experiment with the resonance of our voices in this beautiful amphitheater. We didn’t realize the theater was just above Klima, so upon seeing an information plaque on our way into town we took a detour up the rough path just before sunset and were thrilled with our decision. You can walk back down the path for a drink and food at the popular restaurant on the water. The sunset here over the sea was perfection and we felt lucky to snag a table and reflect on an exceptional day in Milos.

Great landmark, definitely worth visiting it. Be aware that as you are driving down the hill, just about 150m before you reach to 'catacombs' landmark, make sure to notice the off road entrance and handwritten sign that says 'Ancient Theatre' on your right hand side. You can park on the side of the road, or drive all the way down to the catacombs, park there where its spacious and walk your way up to the entrance of the theatre. Get some water with you!!
