Free access to the theater and ruins of Thorikos the ancient mining town that provided silver to mighty Athens city state!

Magnificent location and ancient monument. Just beside the theater is an entrance to the ancient mine caves dated long before the Athens Golden Age and even a pre-historic settlement on top and around the hill above the theater. Many ancient ruins are laying around, like residential quarters, cemetery, a temple and an "industrial quarter" supporting the ancient mines!..Entrance is free, and place is a hidden gem not very popular by tourists..

It's a great ancient sight ,which dates back to Geometric period (10th bc) ,the theater is in really good condition and very impressive!Unfortunately the archaeological sight of Thorikon has been abandoned by the Ministry of Culture and there's is no quard or something!

We thought it was pretty cool. It was a pain to get the car somewhere in order for us to go in, but we were able to walk around the theater and the area. Not a soul in sight. Really underrated :) no tickets needed. Just some really good shoes with tread because many rocks to climb :)

An impressive abandoned ancient site that you can have to yourself when you visit. Read up on the history before you go. It is close to Lavrio and easily accessible sine it is open around the clock. The sea is very near which adds to its allure.

There's not much to this site, but if in the area it's a nice stop. And it's free access and time of day. That said... taxis charge 20€ each way. Don't let yours leave unless you have arranged other transport.
