Ο ναός του ευαγγελισμού σύμφωνα με έρευνα του πολιτικού μηχανικού Γιάννη Ντούσκου σχετικά με τις αρχαιότητες που προέρχονται από τον αρχαίο ναό της Απατουρίας Αθηνάς, που βασισμένη στην αδιάψευστη μαρτυρία- γκραβούρα του γερμανού περιηγητή Λομπάουερ του έτους 1824 , αποδεικνύει ότι ο ναός χτίστηκε στα 1890 –ν 1900 ήταν στη θέση που βρισκόταν ο αρχαίος ναός .Ο ναός του Ευαγγελισμού κατέρρευσε από τον σεισμό της Υδρας το 1936 και τότε αποκαλύφθηκαν οι σπόνδυλοι των κιόνων του αρχαίου ναού που είχαν χεησιμοποιηθεί. Πάντως το 1964 έγινε ανακατασκευή του ναού του Ευαγγελισμού, επί δημαρχίας Παν. Α. Σαμπάνη.
