Οι άγιοι Ανάργυροι Κοσμάς και Δαμιανός ήταν γιατροί στο επάγγελμα και παρείχαν ιάσεις σε όλους όσους είχαν ανάγκη. Για αντάλλαγμα δεν έπαιρναν χρήματα, αλλά το μόνο πού ζητούσαν ήταν να πιστεύουν στον Χριστό. Υπάρχουν τρεις συζυγίες Αγίων Αναργύρων που φέρουν το ίδιο όνομα, δηλαδή Κοσμάς και Δαμιανός, τους οποίους τιμά η Ορθόδοξος Εκκλησία σε διαφορετικές ημέρες του έτους. α) Είναι οι αυτάδελφοι Κοσμάς και Δαμιανός από τα μέρη της Ασίας, υιοί της ευσεβούς Θεοδότης, οι οποίοι γιάτρευαν τους ασθενείς που έπασχαν από κάθε είδους ασθένεια, χωρίς να παίρνουν χρήματα ή δώρα. Ζούσαν ενάρετα με μεγάλη φιλανθρωπία και ακτημοσύνη κάνοντας πολλά θαύματα και εκοιμήθησαν στην πόλη Φερεμάν της Ασίας. Η μνήμη τους εορτάζεται την 1η Νοεμβρίου. β) Με το ίδιο όνομα είναι και οι εκ της Ρώμης Άγιοι Ανάργυροι Κοσμάς και Δαμιανός που ήταν ιατροί και θεράπευαν χωρίς να πληρώνονται τους ασθενείς, θαυματουργώντας και διδάσκοντας την πίστη στον Χριστό, οι οποίοι μαρτύρησαν δια λιθοβολισμού το έτος 284 και η μνήμη τους εορτάζεται την 1η Ιουλίου. γ) Οι άλλοι δύο Άγιοι Ανάργυροι Κοσμάς και Δαμιανός ήταν από την Αραβία. Ήταν ιατροί και αυτοί που θεράπευαν σε διάφορες πόλεις και χωριά τους ασθενείς και δίδασκαν τον Χριστιανισμό. Αφού συνελήφθησαν και υποβλήθηκαν σε διάφορα μαρτύρια, και στο τέλος αποκεφαλίσθηκαν. Η μνήμη τους εορτάζεται την 17η Οκτωβρίου. Small beautiful church of Agioi Anargyroi with a wonderful view. There are three marriages of Saints Anargyros with the same name, namely Kosmas and Damianos, who are honored by the Orthodox Church on different days of the year. a) They are the brothers Kosmas and Damianos from the parts of Asia, sons of the pious Theodotus, who healed the patients suffering from any kind of disease, without receiving money or gifts. They lived virtuously with great charity and landlessness doing many miracles and slept in the city of Ferreman in Asia. Their memory is celebrated on November 1. b) With the same name are Saints Anargyros Kosmas and Damianos from Rome who were doctors and healed the sick without paying, working miracles and teaching the faith in Christ, who martyred by stoning in the year 284 and their memory is celebrated on July 1st. c) The other two Saints Anargyros Kosmas and Damianos were from Arabia. They were also doctors who treated the sick in various cities and villages and taught Christianity. After they were arrested and subjected to various tortures, and in the end they were beheaded. Their memory is celebrated on October 17.
