Στις 22 Απριλίου του 1827, όταν έγινε η Μάχη στο Λάπι, οι κάτοικοι του χωριού και της ευρύτερης περιοχής απέκρουσαν την επίθεση των στρατευμάτων του Ιμπραήμ Πασά, κατά τη διάρκεια της εκστρατείας του στην Πελοπόννησο. Η μάχη διήρκεσε περίπου επτά ώρες και σε αυτήν υπήρξαν 7 πεσόντες Λαπαίοι αγωνιστές, στη μνήμη των οποίων έχει στηθεί μνημείο, με μεγάλο σταυρό, στην τοποθεσία Κουρόρα (Άνω Λάπι), και κάθε χρόνο γίνεται τελετή μνήμης και κατάθεση στεφάνων από τους κατοίκους και τις τοπικές αρχές.
