The archaeological site is very interesting, read the display panels to discover the power of the Kaviria mysteries in the ancient world. There's also the "Philoktetes' cave", a cave where the mythical hero was left by his comrades because of his wound. The cave is rather easy to reach, but the opening is not accessible by anyone, it's quite narrow. Thankfully, the cave has two entrances, with the second being easily accessible by swimming.

The only special thing about this place is the view of the sea from here. The ruins are really underwhelming. Bring your swim suit - there's a cave you can get by water.

Well layed out space. The cave of Foloktites is a must see!

Not much to see but is a well preserved place and has a wonderful cave if you are slim enough to pass by the hollow entrance. Clean and peaceful, has a nominal fee to enter. Recommended!

Very thrilling to stand in this mystical place, where rituals were performed by adepts and initiates thousands of year ago. Beyond the ancient ruins and down the steep path, by the seaside hidden by rocks is a small opening. It leads into the cave of Filoktetes,a mythological hero and friend of Heracles, who found solace there to heal his wounds using a healing salve made by the sacred earth of Limnos.

Like most of the archeological sites on Lemnos, you have to use a little imagination. The site is interesting but does not offer a lot to see. There is one sign in English which explains the history and more of the site is open to the public. They are excavation more of the area and was interesting to talk to one of the guys who worked there. The main attraction is the cave which is a nice experience. The walk to the cave is down a long stone staircase so bring shoes and be prepared for a bit of a hike. Safe for adults and big kids. It may close around 3-4 and costs 2€ per adult, kids are free. It is a must see if you’re in Lemnos and easy to get to because of the paved road. There is an abandoned resort right before the site which is open for exploring also.

Interesting archeological site deeply connected with the territory. Sacred place for the ancient Greeks that was also used during the after-Roman period. The road is pretty good, the site is relatively small and you get access to a cave near the sea called Philoctitis cave. You may find interesting info on Wikipedia so I share here other details. It is relatively easy to visit the site with small kids

We took a guided tour organized by Seaborn Cruises. The history is very rich and a must visit if you are at all interested in learning about pre Christian religious practices.
