★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Many changes since last time we were here. Tourism has also struck Astypalea. Still, an excellent place for a short stay.
Take care if you land at the new harbour. A 7 km journey to Chora and no transportation. Poor arrangement.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Windmills of Astypalea stand on the top of the hill in Hora. In the old days, the windmills operated by wind as the islands of Greece are renowned for its gusty winds. Although the windmills are no longer operational, they continue to be a symbol of the long history of the island. The majority of them have been restored and repaired and two of them are used as the information centre of the island and as an exhibition centre.
