On our second day we went back to our room to shower and I was sitting on the terrace of room 111 while my mum was in the bathroom taking a shower. When I came into the room it was totally flooded from what would appear to be water coming from the drain inside the bathroom – this is separate to the shower plug hole. I panicked and called the reception to notify them to come quickly as the room was flooding in which they did, however what happened afterwards will forever stay with me. 2 girls arrived in the room to mop up the water and a maintenance man came to work on the bathroom. Followed by the owner of the resort. The owner proceeded to shout at me very aggressively and extremely loudly, enough for other guests to feel alarmed. We were 2 women on our own celebrating my mums recent retirement. He began to insist that we had ruined the room and were liable to damage, also shouting that we had had 20 people in our room showering. To put it into perspective this is a very small hotel there probably wasn’t far off 20 people in the whole resort. I began to ask him not to shout and scream at us as we had don’t nothing wrong and also that we alerted them to the problem as soon as it happened. I also pointed out we had been at the pool all day and had only arrived the prior afternoon so I am not sure how this could have been our fault. He continued to scream and shout before he stormed off. I asked the 2 girls that were clearing up if we could help in any way and asked who this man was that was making us feel so uncomfortable, where they informed me it was the owner of the hotel. In that, the owner clearly didn’t feel that he had scared us enough and returned to wave his hands around at me and scream and shout some more. This happened 3 times before he looked (in the words of the hotel staff) like he was going to collapse and have a heart attack. Hopefully that paints the picture for you at the level of verbal abuse that we had encountered. Christina (reception/ guest relations) was advised from another concerned member of staff and came from home to see if she could help us in any way to this day I am very grateful. The next day Christina asked me what she could do to make up for the outrageous treatment that we had received and I advised her that we simply wanted an apology from the owner for his outrageous behaviour, which needless to say we did not receive. I pointed out that If someone had abused us like that at home, the police would be called and the person would be dealt with accordingly. I am quite sure that if a male had been present he would not have spoke to us in the manor he did nor would he continue to come back to try and scare us further. The owner was also on site again the next day (our last day but did not apologise. Other guests that were staying at the resort approached us in the morning to check if we were ok as they were clearly concerned. The whole pool had apparently overheard the encounter and actually thought it was a rude husband abusing his wife. They had absolutely no idea that it was actually the owner of the hotel that they had chosen to stay in. Christina bought us 2 glasses of wine as her apology for his behaviour however it was not down to her to apologise for the terrible treatment the owner encountered on his guests. I don’t like scaremongering and I am normally against bad reviews unless fully justified however I felt there was no other option but to advise fellow travelers of this encounter at Avithos Resort so you are aware when choosing to stay there. My mums retirement trip was ruined and for no reason other than the fact there was clearly an issue with the system in the room. There were guests that had left just before we arrived and checked in, so they may have blocked the system, who knows. There was also heavy rain the day and night before so this may have played a part. Either way the resort did nothing to correct their errors and instead threatened, shouted and screamed at us to the point of fear.

Just had a week here… by accident really. Previous hotel cancelled day before flying and moved us here. Beautiful resort, extremely clean, rooms are lovely and the staff are 10/10. Make you feel brilliant, go out the way for you no problem. They even gave us a free bottle of champagne as we got engaged while over there. Svoronata as an area though is quite remote. We hired a car so not bad. Few tavernas for food and there is a mini market about 10minute walk. Avithos beach is beautiful definitly give that a trip. Aqua blue sea!

Five stars for the bed, the most comfortable mattress that exists in the world - I'm determined to buy one of these! Lovely friendly staff, excellent pool and rooms. Huge fridge freezer! Good restaurant nearby (Esperides), lovely beach, good for walking, and close to local bus stop for buses to Argostoli. But a couple of things could make it even better - probably not many guests use the kitchen, but a little washing up liquid, scourer and cloth really would have been nice to have. The two level rooms are a lovely idea, and very spacious, but maybe not so good for us oldies who need to visit the loo in the night, and don't appreciate going downstairs! I saw that not all rooms are two level, so perhaps ask guests which they prefer? And we found the price of an ouzo rather expensive (double!) compared to everywhere else nearby, and therefore didn't use the bar much. Shame the bar doesn't offer nicer food - just chips and simple "British" style snacks. Something a bit healthier and up market would seem more fitting. But overall, a lovely place to stay for a few days.

Beautiful accommodations. Most friendly and helpful staff, they really went out of their way to help me with any requests I had. Felt very taken care of! You will definitely need to rent a car if you are planning on seeing / doing things around the island.

Delightful and quiet spot with great staff and a good ambiance for chilling out. Kid friendly pool area with lots of toys. Nice pool bar that's a bit pricey but has good food and drinks. Excellent buffet breakfast. Very well kept public areas and tasteful room decor and designs. Lovely part of Kefalonia with beach, beach bar, and two restaurants a 15 min walk.

This is a little gem in a quite village of Kefalonia. The resort staff were so kind and happy to help with anything you required. We had a lovely room at the back it was so peaceful and calm and spotless. The only tiny criticism would be that the bed was a little hard for us but that is personal choice. It didn't spoil our holiday because it was amazing in every aspect. The Poole bar food was very tasty and reasonably priced for the portion size. The swimming pool was huge for the amount of guests. The gardens so neat and well tended to. You can see the effort that everyone made. There are a few decent restaurants within walking distance and a little supermarket that was well stocked. We will definitely return and next time hire a car to travel around the island. All in all a fantastic holiday.
