Barceló Hydra Beach Resort - Epar.Od. Ermionis - Galatas

We really hate this place. The resort was full of children during the weekend. Impossible to have a sun bed at the swimming pool or the beach because the family put their towel in the sunbed before the breakfast. So when you arrive at 10am, the swimming pool is empty but all the sunbeds are occupied. The restaurant is a nightmare. You have to queue to enter the restaurant, and you have to queue again for the food. We queued 15 min to have the food, 10 min to have the bread, and 10 min to have a drink. We were desperate and we didn't go for the desert. you have around 1000 people in this CANTINE, this is so noisy. The room are correct but a bit old. Definitely not a place to rest and enjoy a weekend.

Very nice and family friendly place, helpful and polite staff, huge variety of food - great both Greek and international cuisine, great beach for kids. Check if the restaurant's operating times suit your family schedule, because other options are limited. Hand hygiene products all over the place masks and gloves at the restaurant, but no control about covid certification during check in.

It's kind of difficult to write an objective review of this resort. My feelings are mixed because there were good and bad parts of our experience there. The staff was very kind and tried their best to please everyone, for a start. The site is spacious and clean but the buildings are dated, although recently renovated (2009). The room was clean and cozy, with a small but convenient balcony with sea view. One objection would be the door of the room, which was not what one would expect in an otherwise well renovated building with a good choice of materials. The food in the restaurant was plentiful and tasted okay, with lots of different choices for everyone. The beach is ok, with clean water and free umbrellas, as long as you don't want the big ones near the seaside, for which you have to pay. Drinks are also free in the beach and pool bar, as long as you don't want the good ones... The problem with the big resorts like this one is as always the clients. The noise from the kids screaming everywhere (including the restaurant), the lack of any basic discipline, sanitary rules (especially important during this time of global health crisis) and basic politeness are hugely affecting the sense of calmness and peace you expect when booking your holiday in a car-free huge resort away from any town or other source of noise, pollution etc. It actually ruins the point of it all. I know that the hotel is not responsible for the attitude of its clients, but this doesn't change the fact that you might aim for a relaxing weekend or longer stay there, but the hordes of Neanderthals with the help of their offspring will most probably ruin it for you, as it did for us. If you can book a mid-week stay during a period of the year that schools are open, you might have a chance. If you have kids, especially the loud and obnoxious kind, this is the best place to stay and let them know that they are free to do whatever they want!!!

We have been touring Greece for years, and we have never been in a hotel with such clean rooms, wonderful, varied food, the kindest staff ever. I recommend it to families who want a vacation away from the crowds, with an all inc offer because you are not thinking about anything. I have no objections to this hotel. The place worths 5 stars but not the hotel's equipment neither the catering which worth 3 stars. Food are often the same but the quality again is not better than ibis budget ( not bad but not a resort quality) . The beds are not confy and seems not changed since many years ego. But above all, the waiters, drivers and workers are wonderful, the place is great for families. One more negative point are the drivers that shuttle from the airport to the hotel (they drive crazy, and do not speak a word of English).

In general inreally like this hotel. Is my 2nd time here... only th Bublos restaurant menu was not so nice. All the rest is very nice. And the craft is very sympathetic and kind. I like that!

Amazing place for relaxation. Little far away from highway and those local roads rough to drive on but except that all perfect, especially hotel stuff. Food was nothing special but acceptable. Will recommend to everyone.

I stay in this hotel for holidays almost every year since 2015. This year I visited between 10-13 of June - this is the last time! The main reason is that hotel is understaffed and the personnel they have is unprofessional and rude (mainly in the restaurant). I had to clean and prepare the restaurant table by myself since nobody would pay any attention for more than 15 minutes... the waitress reaction was that you haven't been here for 15 minutes... you don't expect this behaviour from a hotel at this price range!
