★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have to admit I didn't look for her I found her walking around the city. The old fountain looks beautiful, it exudes some old wise patina. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything around that would inform me about her, but I looked it up on the internet. It is located in the center, surrounded by cafes and shops ...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazed that at this particular moment the Greek government decided to add a sign with information. Its small but free and easy to reach so defiantly something you should see with your own eyes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The fountain of Bebo at Kornaros square, Heraklion, Crete. The fountain was built between 1552 and 1554 by captain Gianmatteo Bebo. It bears a Venetian coat of arms. At the centre, statue of the Roman era.
First of May in Megalo Kastro (Heraklion) the festivities of the black cretans (Chalikoutithes - Χαλικούτηδες): May Kiu-Curie, Yarago! Yarago! …
On the morning of May Day, the Chalikoutithes woke up in a festive mood.
In Heraklion, the center of the celebrations that took place in May was the headless statue that is still in the same place in the old Venetian fountain, Bebo Fountain, in today's Kornaros Square.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited as a day away from the beach, got to give my skin a rest from the baking hot sun. Tuesday was market day I what the locals call the old market. It was really nice walking around looking at all they were trying to tempt the tourists to buy but be ware I think they elevate the prices to as high as they can get away with. We bought a nice gold on silver necklace that they wanted €89 for but after a bit of haggling I nocked them down to €49, thing is some people would have paid the asking price. You also need to wach out for the beggers who use their children to place flower reefs on your head and then expect you to pay for it, they can be quite forceful as well so just be ware. Apart from that it's a lovely place to visit with its architecture and open air Caffè.
