Castle Memories - Naxos island

The apartment was very clean and has a very nice view. It’s exactly in the heart of the old town of Chora Naxos. Vasilis who welcomed us was very kind, polite and explained us where to go and what to visit. For sure we will be back… ☺️☺️

We stayed at the Angela de Merici appartment and we really enjoyed every minute of our stay! The tremendous history of this old house is reflected on its vibe and little touches here and there made it a unique experience for me and my partner! Very clean and Vasilis the manager was polite and welcoming. Right in the heart of the old town with nearby bars, restaurants, art galleries etc. Definitely a place for history-lovers. We wish we could have stayed longer!

We had booked this apartment (the smaller upper level one, with the terrace) for our June '21 vacation just based on the photos of the terrace - when there were no reviews available yet in either Google or Booking. A bit risky, but turned out to be totally worthwhile. Such a great experience! We would really love to come back! First of all the terrace alone (you are really at the top of the castle hill) would make it worth it! You can enjoy forever (and especially at sunset) the views of the harbor and the west part of the old town, the Apollo temple, the east part of Paros across the bay (and, on clear days, also see the lights of Syros, Mykonos); and have fun watching the ferries come and go. But on top of that, the apartment itself is great - clean, comfortable and more than spacious enough for a couple (it also has a small fridge, stove and utensils making it suitable for a longer vacation). The host Ursula was so welcoming and polite - and we really cherished the tour of the upper castle area and the explanation of the rich history of the building that she graciously gave us. The walk up from the harbor is a bit of an exercise but it's also fun to get lost in the maze alleys of the old town on the way up (and if it's too steep for some folks, there is also the Avaton/Ursuline building elevator that one can use to come up from the southeast side of the castle hill area). PS. And as an extra bonus, the Domus festival intimate setting music performances take place in a courtyard next door and you have direct view of them!

The owners are lovely and super accommodating as we needed to change our dates at the last minute. They were also available for questions and serviced the apartment upon request. They also called us when we left our sunglasses behind allowing us to return to pick them up.that was really appreciated. The apartment design is super cool, it’s an antique look but the apartment was recently renovated. it’s also in a unique location so the terrace and the view is just perfect, actually it’s even more spectacular than the photos. It’s the perfect spot for sunset drinks. The only negative was the bed size (double and therefore small, we prefer larger kong size beds as my wife snores) and also that there’s no a/c in the bedroom. It’s in the living area so the bedroom remains warm. Also there is a ceiling fan in the bedroom but it only operates when the light is on? So to get air flow during the day you need to waste electricity by leaving the light on. This isn’t very eco friendly.

I have never been to Naxos before but Castle Memories made me fall in love with this island even more! The atmosphere there was not like in the other hotels - this one has history! I was feeling like I was back in the past and I was wondering what it would be to live there during 16th century. People who are into history will definitely appreciate it! Also, it was easy to find and is located in the old city!
