Νικόλαος Καπνιάς on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Νοτιοανατολικά της Παιανίας, στα όρια με τον Καρελά Κορωπίου, λίγα μόλις μέτρα από τη λεωφόρο Λαυρίου, βρίσκεται ο ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου, επονομαζόμενου και Σκληπιού (προφανώς από το όνομα Ασκληπιός). Στη σημερινή του μορφή ανάγεται στους μεταβυζαντινούς χρόνους, ωστόσο διατηρεί παλαιότερη φάση, πιθανόν υστεροβυζαντινών χρόνων. Τούτο γίνεται εύκολα αντιληπτό ακόμα και από τον περιβάλλοντα χώρο του ναού, όπου και μπορεί να παρατηρήσει κάποιος τα spolia που υπάρχουν, όπως μαρμάρινες πλάκες, κομμάτια από κίονες και γενικά άφθονο οικοδομικό υλικό. Επιπλέον, το γεγονός ότι στην τοιχοδομία του ναού διακρίνονται αρχαία μέλη εντοιχισμένα, και σε συνδυασμό με τα παραπάνω, εύκολα καταλαβαίνει κάποιος ότι το μνημείο αλλά και η τοποθεσία έχουν πολύ πλούσιο παρελθόν. Ακόμα και η ονομασία Σκληπιός φαίνεται να σχετίζεται με την αρχαία λατρεία του Ασκληπιού στην ίδια περιοχή. To the southeast of Paiania, on the border with Karelas Koropiou, just a few meters from Lavrion Avenue, is the church of Agios Georgios, named after Sclepios (apparently by the name Asclepius). In its present form it goes back to the post-Byzantine times, but still retains an older phase, probably of the late Byzantine period. This is easily understood even from the surrounding area of the temple, where one can observe the spolia that exist, such as marble slabs, columns, and generally abundant building material. In addition, the fact that the walls of the church are distinguished by ancient members, and in combination with the above, one easily understands that the monument and the site have a very rich past. Even the name Sklepios seems to be related to the ancient cult of Asclepius in the same area.
A	Apo Chris on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ένας εξαιρετικός βυζαντινός ναος! Στεναχωρεθηκα παρα πολυ που ηταν κλειδωμενο. Η πρόσβαση είναι πάρα πολύ εύκολη. An exceptional Byzantine church! I was very upset that it was locked. Access is very easy.
