Παρουσιάζει πολλές ομοιότητές με τις εκκλησίες Παντάνασσα στο Μυστρά και στην Άρτα. Ο ναός φέρεται να χτίστηκε από την Ειρήνη Παλαιολόγου κόρη του βασιλιά Ανδρόνικου Παλαιολόγου τον 14ο αιώνα, ωστόσο, ως αποδεκτός χρόνος κτίσης της θεωρείται ο 12ος αιώνας.
Highly, at Pantanassa Monemvasia, at Vatika Lakonia, at an altitude of 405 meters from the sea, there is the unique and extraordinary five-pointed and three-octagonal octagonal rhythm, a cemetery dedicated to Panagia Pantanassa, Saint Athanasius that prevailed both as a name and Saint Spyridon. It has many similarities with the Pantanassa churches in Mystra and Arta. The temple is believed to have been built by Irene Palaiologos, the daughter of King Andronikos Palaiologos in the 14th century, however, it is considered to be the 12th century as an acceptable time of its construction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πανέμορφος ιστορικός ναός. Επιβάλλεται με το Μέτρο του και την καθαρότητα του σε κάθε προσκυνητή κι επισκέπτη. Ο Πατέρας Χρήστος λειτουργεί και τελεί μυστήρια αντάξια της παράδοσης του Ι.Ν. με ευλάβεια και σεβασμό μαζί κι αντίστοιχα με τους προσκυνητές.
Beautiful historic temple. It is imposed with its Measure and its purity on every pilgrim and visitor. Father Christos operates and is mysteriously worthy of the tradition of I.N. with reverence and respect together and respectively with the pilgrims.
