J	James Gieschen on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place to stop by if you are in Halki (Χαλκειο), but make sure to call and book a tour in advance, if it's even possible. We stopped by and asked about a tour and they just told us to look at the distillery rooms by ourselves. Stopped by again, and still no information about a tour. They might have just been too busy. Good liquor, all the same, and glad they are keeping the tradition alive!
M	Maria Parisi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chalki might initially seem far for the casual traveler but it is a place that one must visit and one of the highlights for visiting it is the Kitro Distillery. It is a fully functional distillery where a very unique spirit is brewed made from the Kitro plant leaves. The place apart from a distillery operates as a mini museum where the visitor can observe some historic pieces of machinery and also as a store where one can actually buy the product. The spirit is strong but it is offered in three varieties based on the taste and alcoholic degrees. The bottles are so nice that you should definitely consider buying as a souvenir from Naxos.

It could also have the kitron plant. The fruit was displayed. Good to see where liquour actually comes from. Time needed for visit: 10min max. You get a free tasting of Kitron in different concentrations, you get to look the firepit-fueled destillator and you get to buy Kitron in bottles to take home. The liquor tastes citric and can be bought in mild and strong version. Peruvian greetings.

The tour through the areas of the place as well as the informations provided regarding the equipments, their usage and the way the drinks are producing, is an interesting one. The visitor has the opportunity to buy and taste different varieties of the kitro drink.
D	Diana Galindo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had such a blast on Naxos, and Chalkio was our favorite little town. The distillery was wonderfully interesting and we enjoyed hearing its history. The small tasting was great too, and we ended up taking some home! Great stop in your travels.

I bought a bottle of one of the spirits but what was the most surprising that I found what"s in the picture in Melanes village being left at one of the staircases. It seems that locals love this spirit! It's a good sign. I thought you would like to have this pic. Thanks for a chat today.
