Τώρα είναι αρχαιολογικό μουσείο και η αρχική χρήση του κτηρίου ήταν χώρος συνεύρεσης αρχόντων της πόλης. Here was and will be one of the trademarks of the city. All appointments are given here. It is now an archeological museum and the original use of the building was a meeting place for the city's lords.

Можно отдохнуть от жары, как этот пёсик:) Very beautiful, if you go right through, you find yourself in a very cozy little courtyard with a small fountain. You can take a break from the heat, like this dog :)

Αρχικά ήταν ανοιχτό και στεγαζόταν με ξύλινη οροφή, η οποία το 1625 αντικαταστάθηκε με δώμα. Το πιο μεγαλοπρεπές δείγμα αυτού του είδους οικοδομημάτων είναι η Λότζια του Ηρακλείου. Το αρχικό ενετικό κτίσμα του 16ου μ.Χ. αιώνα διατηρείται σχεδόν ακέραιο, ενώ η Λότζια λειτουργούσε ως χώρος συναντήσεως των ενετών ευγενών και τιμαριούχων, ένα είδος λέσχης αξιωματικών. Εκεί λάμβαναν χώρα εμπορικές συναλλαγές και πολιτικές διαβουλεύσεις. Με την τουρκική κατάληψη της πόλης, η Λότζια του Ρεθύμνου μετατράπηκε σε τζαμί. Στη δυτική του πλευρά χτίστηκε μιναρές, ο οποίος κατεδαφίστηκε τον 20ο αιώνα (περίπου το 1930). Για να φτάσουμε στη Λότζια από το εντικό λιμάνι του Ρεθύμνου, μπαίνουμε στο μικρό στενό που βρίσκεται στο μέσο του λιμανιού και προχωράμε για λίγα μέτρα. Απέναντι μας θα δούμε την εντυπωσιακή Λότζια, που σήμερα ανήκει στο Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού και στεγάζει το παράρτημα του Ταμείου Αρχαιολογικών Πόρων και Αρχαιοτήτων όπου πωλούνται εκμαγεία σπουδαίων γλυπτών από όλη την Ελλάδα και αρχαιολογικοί οδηγοί (βιβλία). The Loggia of Rethymno is a square building with arched facades on three sides, very well built, probably based on drawings by the famous Veronese engineer Michele Sammicheli. It was originally open and housed with a wooden roof, which in 1625 was replaced by a roof. The most majestic example of this type of building is the Loggia of Heraklion. The original Venetian building of the 16th AD. century is preserved almost intact, while the Loggia functioned as a meeting place of the Venetian nobles and timars, a kind of club of officers. Trade and political consultations took place there. With the Turkish occupation of the city, the Loggia of Rethymnon was turned into a mosque. A minaret was built on its west side, which was demolished in the 20th century (around 1930). To reach Loggia from the main port of Rethymno, we enter the small strait located in the middle of the port and move for a few meters. Opposite us we will see the impressive Loggia, which today belongs to the Ministry of Culture and houses the branch of the Fund of Archaeological Resources and Antiquities where models of great sculptures from all over Greece and archeological guides (books) are sold.

Маленькая в сравнении с той что находится в Ираклионе, зато не заброшенная и ухоженная, внутри расположен музей и приятный персонал. An old Venetian loggia. One of the few surviving. Small in comparison with the one in Heraklion, but not abandoned and well-groomed, there is a museum and nice staff inside.
