A lovely museum occupying one of the very few historic buildings left in Alexandroupoli, squeezed between modern apartment blocks. The museum is quite small, but well organised and provides information on Thracian culture of everyday life (note: it covers only the most recent history, that is mainly the end of the XIX and first half of the XX century). Very helpful and friendly staff. A great spot both for the younger and grown up visitors.

It was very nice , i loved that it had everything explained in english also . The employees were really nice and very helpful , very good at explaining , clean english , very kind and resourceful. The building itself has a history ! And as a piece of advice before proceeding to look at all the museum has to offer , it is recommended to read as you enter , the text on the left wall and the right wall so you understand exactly what it is all about !

It's a must visiting. The museum exhibits facts of Thrace, that apart from being historically important in relation to its contributed role in the cultural and agricultural development as a significant Balkan economic centre, it also exposes the cultural fashion design as a result of its multicultural environment. Greek, Armenians, Pomaki, Othomans, Bulgarians, Gipsies/Roma, Jews lived in the area. It is not accidental, that reps from international fashion houses visit the museum. After the visit today together with the visit to the similar museum in Xanthi, it makes me feel that it is understandable why the coexistence of multicultural people develop their social, cultural, ideological and economic living by creating new standards, as long as the civilization principles supersede the ethnical ones. The other way round brings civil wars and catastrophic results.

Fantastic museum... Great folk artifacts, plows, bellows, pottery, silver, books ..... AND .... Costumes. We were so fortunate that the beautiful lady who worked there explained the decorations and customs that were at play in the clothes. Why necklaces of money was common, why scarves were different materials. The basement was exciting to us... A 20 foot deep well .. wine making, wine press, tools, thatching .... Just go. You will love it.
