★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Φιλαρμονική Εταιρεία Κερκύρας γνωστή στην Κέρκυρα ως “Παλαιά Φιλαρμονική”, ιδρύθηκε το Σεπτέμβριο του 1840 από εκλεκτά μέλη της κερκυραϊκής κοινωνίας. Η ίδρυσή της εντάσσεται στο γενικότερο κλίμα ίδρυσης λεσχών και εταιρειών που ανθούσε τότε στην Ευρώπη και που οι Κερκυραίοι γνώριζαν καλά, χάρις στη φοίτησή τους σε ευρωπαϊκά πανεπιστήμια.
Στον ενάμιση και πλέον αιώνα της ζωής της η Φιλαρμονική Εταιρεία Κερκύρας υπηρέτησε με πίστη και εξαιρετική επιτυχία και τους τρεις αρχικούς της σκοπούς. Συνδέθηκε απόλυτα με τον εορτασμό των θρησκευτικών και αργότερα εθνικών τελετών, ενώ πρόσφερε πάντοτε δωρεάν επιμελή εκπαίδευση στη θεία τέχνη της μουσικής στην κερκυραϊκή νεότητα.
 The Corfu Philharmonic Society, known in Corfu as the "Old Philharmonic", was founded in September 1840 by select members of the Corfiot society. Its establishment is part of the general climate of establishing clubs and companies that were flourishing in Europe at that time and that the people of Corfu knew well, thanks to their study at European universities.
For more than a century and a half of its life, the Corfu Philharmonic Society has served with faith and exceptional success all three of its original purposes. He was completely associated with the celebration of religious and later national ceremonies, while always offering free diligent education in the divine art of music to the Corfiot youth.
