★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ein nicht ganz so besonderer, dafür aber ziemlich großer, halb eingestürzter Wachturm direkt am Meer. Ganz schöne Kulisse mit Atmosphäre. Entlegen. Nicht beschildert.
 A not so special, but rather large, half collapsed watchtower on the sea. Beautiful scenery with atmosphere. Remote. Not signposted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eine schöner, antiker Turm direkt am Meer, von dem die obere Hälfte bereits eingestürzt ist. In ca. 200 - 300 Metern befindet sich ein großer Parkplatz, von dem aus man auch zu den Wasserfällen hochlaufen kann. Man kann aber bei gutem Wetter auch über einen unbefestigten Weg bis direkt zum Turm fahren. Man kann an 3 Seiten um den Turm herum gesehen, an einer Seite ist Wasser. Das Betreten des Turms war im Oktober 2020 auf Grund von Baufälligkeit nicht gestattet.
A beautiful ancient tower by the sea, the top half of which has already collapsed. In about 200 - 300 meters there is a large parking lot, from which you can also walk up to the waterfalls. In good weather, however, you can also drive directly to the tower via an unpaved path. You can see around the tower on 3 sides, there is water on one side. Entering the tower was not permitted in October 2020 due to dilapidation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the approximately 700 year old Tower of Fonia. Unfortunately torrential rains in September 2017 and the descending flood waters from the mountains nearby, undermined the foundation of the tower and made part of it collapse.
The greek Ministry of Archeology has promised funds to rebuild this famous site, but help is slow to come.
The people of Samothaki would like to make their voices heard and request for private donators to assist them rebuild their beloved Fonia Tower.
