One of the best public hospitals. We have seen worst. The manners of some of the staff could be improved. They are public workers, underpaid and every day, for a lot of years, they have to deal with different kinds of people, but they truth is they should behave better. Be sure for one thing: these people (nurses, doctors etc.) have a lot of experience greater than most of the Greek private hospitals where everything looks more tidy and the staff more polite. They have to deal with a lot of different medical situations so they gain valuable experience. Judge from the results, not from the looks. Also someone disconnected most of the televisions even if they still work, so you'll have to rent from the hospitals external associates. Bring with you a coaxial cable and install a remote control app on your smart phone if supported and you will have free TV. Only one person can stay with the patient overnight. Make sure to bring your own lay back chair like the one I 'm posting in the pictures so you don't have to rent one.(which you can use only in the night, during the day close it and put them away from the patient's beds). All the medical care is free if you a have a Greek national insurance number (AMKA). In Greek public hospital if you have an emergency (accident, pregnancy etc.) you can be treated for free just by just bringing your passport. In any other case you need to pay for your treatment. For a surgery expect something like 2000-3000 euros. Ask at the reception for the prices. Three caffeterias in the hospital are open 24 hours and they also have a great variety of snacks. One of the them works as a small mini market with items that you might need.

They are one of the largest hospitals in Attica and they have a HUGE parking lot for the employees. They have chosen this hospital as one of the major for giving blood. They are located on a very busy main highway. They have no parking for people coming to donate blood.

5 stars for the medical staff. The mess comes from the visitors. 10 visitors for 1 patient. The waiting areas are awful, again due to the people that wait there. I think it is a matter of culture and non existing education.

After you cross the emergency section and the front stuff, you will be handed to a great team... Not all of them speaks English but the majority are nice

Arrived with severe eye discomfort believing I had contracted conjunctivitis; a very helpful nurse helped me find the ophthalmologist, the young resident who helped me quickly diagnosed my issue and sent me on my way with a prescription. I was very pleased with the medical care and personal attention.

Two stars for still being free and a third for good doctors. Minus two for no patient parking and lack of organization.

I came here 5 years ago. I had broken my wrist in England and it was time to have an x-ray to see if I need to keep the cast or take it off, but I just happened to be in Greece. So, I went to Gennimatas hospital with my father as it was the closest hospital on duty for orthopedic incidents and they took me in pretty quickly. They explained to me that they could not treat me here due to not having specialized doctors at the time (or something similar, didn't actually understand what they meant), but they cut down my cast anyway, they cleaned my arm and they sent me to another hospital near Kifisia where they had phoned the doctor in beforehand to let him know I am coming, and that other doctor helped me pretty quickly, did my x-ray in no time, he reviewed it and he sent me to an orthopedics shop in the same area, Kifisia to buy a splint and physio equipment. Quite a fuss to drive from one hospital to other but they were very polite and helpful and they didn't have the attitude you meet in other greek hospitals (delays in triage, problematic prioritization, rude staff that act like they own the place).

Was butchered in surgery and left horribly scarred. Made the mistake of confessing i was struggling qith drug addiction and being asian. When they realized i am actually south korean and rather wealthy, all of a sudden there was no record of the 2 weeks i spent there and the doctors refused to give me their names. Im home in korea, drug free now and still not sure what organs i have or dont have. Im pretty sure they gave me a hysterectomy and didnt tell me anything else. If they asked, i would have gladly paid for robotic surgery but am horribly scarred instead...first do no harm, dr. Whoever you are that .
