Καραϊσκάκης, υπασπιστής του Αλή πασά και αργότερα αρχηγός του αρματολικίου των Αγράφων και στρατάρχης της Ρούμελης, γεννήθηκε στο Μαυρομμάτι Καρδίτσας το 1780 και έπεσε στη μάχη του Φαλήρου το 1827. Υπήρξε μια από τις πιο εξέχουσες φυσιογνωμίες του αγώνα της ανεξαρτησίας. The marble bust of the hero of the revolution of 1821, Georgios Karaiskakis, the work of the Athenian sculptor, N.
