Το γλυπτό στήθηκε με πρωτοβουλία της Ένωσης Επιστημόνων Νομού Καρδίτσας. The bronze equestrian statue is located in the former flower garden of Pausilipos, in the square of the same name. It is the work of the famous sculptor Stelios Triantis (1986-1987). Nikolaos Plastiras (1883-1953) is depicted straight, oversized and imposing, with a military uniform and a naked sword, on a rocky high pedestal. The sculpture was erected on the initiative of the Union of Scientists of the Prefecture of Karditsa.

The placement of the sculpture in the busy square expresses the special appreciation of his birthplace for the "black horseman", hero of Asia Minor and leader of the revolution of 1922, who played an important role in the interwar political developments and was three times prime minister in 1945- 1953. The sculpture was erected on the initiative of the Union of Scientists of Karditsa Prefecture.
