We haven't stayed in Grekis, since it was fully booked for the period required. But the owner, Christina, kindly recommended Iris Apartments, in Chrani, where we happily spent 2 weeks. This is a real Greek hospitality and kindness, so I am 100% sure Grekis offers fantastic accomodation having such friendly owner as Christina. Efxaristo poli!

We used Google to search for locations that are near on the beach near Kalamata. Grekis kept coming up by virtue of their very active marketing using the internet. Initially I sent and email to check on availability and got an immediate response together with a price of 90 EU. We had request two single beds rather than a full, queen etc. We were promised and received a one bedroom suite. There were two rooms both with two connected single beds. There was only an AC in the living room/kitchen. The bedroom had a ceiling fan. This was very deceptive advertising. A bedroom should have AC. We turned the fan on full and the AC to 25 c and it never truly cooled down the bedroom. The hotel needs a good deal of updating. It is old especially on the exterior and common areas. The sea is right in front which is a positive and thus the two stars. The beach is a combination of dirty sand and loose rocks. They have placed wooden pallets to connect the work out lounges. The umbrellas are kept open all day and thus the wind has destroyed most of them. Yes the hotel is on the beach but they have not maintained the common areas and the beach to even a 2 star standard. There were very few kitchen supplies and no towels, dish soap etc. When we arrived there was a strong odor of bleach which is good and the room was clean another positive. We did not purchase breakfast as it was not impressive. Suggestions: invest in your property. The price we paid was too much for the quality of the room. The mattress should be replaced. They are hard as a rock at least in the poor room we lived in. Spray for mosquitoes in the yard. The rooms were full of mosquitoes and there are no screens. Do not sell any bedrooms that do not have AC. ' Clearly the owners cater to groups and travel agents based on their customers. Greeks generally do not stay at such places, they know better. We considered leaving after the first day but given we were there two nights we stayed and left early to travel around to visit the castles in Koroni, Methoni and Pylos and go for a swim elsewhere. We were plenty tired and could have slept on the floor which might have been softer than the beds. We cannot recommend Grekis. We did not stay because it was a lower price rather the pictures portrayed a much nicer location. If you decide to stay do not pay too much and consider it a bargain place on the beach.

The room was large with a nice view of the water, and the hotel is close to downtown where the restaurants are. That said, it's on a narrow, busy street with a lot of traffic. Unfortunately, there were way too many negatives. The room wasn't ready on time and had a very strong smell of bleach when we walked in. The mattresses were old, hard and very uncomfortable, and there was no mattress cover, only a very thin sheet; no bedframe or headboard, the mattresses were sitting on box springs on the floor. The pillows were equally lumpy and uncomfortable. There was no air-conditioning unit in the main bedroom, only a ceiling fan, so the room didn't cool off even at night. The bathroom was outdated with an old style bathtub (had to hold shower head to wash yourself) with a curtain that stuck to your body when showering. No screens on any of the doors or windows and there were tons of mosquitoes. The property's lower grounds were unkept, leaves everywhere and the grass and gardens needed a lot of attention. The rooms are poorly furnished and decorated, and the table and chairs (stools at the dining table) are from the 1960s. We were told that they won't come into the room to pick up the trash, and to put the garbage outside the room to be picked up; they never came to get the trash, we had to take it to them. Limited underground parking that was a nightmare with not enough spaces as it was very difficult to park, get in and out of the garage. The beach area was unkept, with broken wooden walkways, unclean and with torn beach umbrellas. The staff wasn't very friendly. Overall, this is a 1-star hotel at best and the room isn't worth more than 50-60 euros, although it's listed at 120 euro!! Way overpriced for the quality and amenities offered.
