★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Υπέροχο μοναστήρι σε ωραία τοποθεσία. Μου θυμίζει τα παιδικά μου χρόνια που στη μνήμη της πηγαίναμε από την παραμονή το βράδυ με τα πόδια και μέναμε στα κελιά. Οι μοναχές το διατηρούν πεντακάθαρο και σε πολύ καλή κατάσταση
Lovely monastery in a nice location. It reminds me of my childhood years when we remembered going to bed at night and staying in cells. The nuns keep it clean and in very good condition

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Στην Ι.Μ. φιλοξενείται η θαυματοργή εικόνα της Παναγίας της Κατερηνους. Πρόκειται για παλαιά εικόνα της ένθρονης Θεοτόκου (ΜΡΘΟΥ), με την προσωνυμία '"η Παντάνασσα", ενώ στο τέλος της εικόνας σημειώνεται επιγραφή "1865 Μαρτίου 26 χείρ Ιω.Ζωγράφου, διά συνδρομής Αγαθαγγέλο Ιερομονάχου της Μονής Κατερηνούς". Η Παναγία φέρει στέμμα ως βασσίλισσα, ενώ κρατεί τον Χριστό τρυφερά στην αγκαλιά της & περιβάλλεται εκατέρωθεν στον θρόνο της από 2 αγγέλους & από 4 Προφήτες, οι οποίοι κρατούν ανοιχτά ενεπίγραφα ειλητάρια. Ο Χριστός με το δεξί χέρι ευλογεί & με το αριστερό κρατεί ειλητάριο που γράφει "Πνεύμα Κυρίου επ' εμέ, ου είνεκεν έχρισέ με ευαγγελίσασθαι πτωχοίς απέσταλκέ με".
In I.M. hosts the miraculous icon of the Virgin of Catherine. This is an old icon of the enthroned Virgin (MRTHOU), with the nickname "the Pantanassa", while at the end of the icon there is an inscription "March 26, 1865 by Ioannis Zografos, with the assistance of Agathangelos Hieromonk of the Monastery of Katerinou". The Virgin Mary wears a crown as a queen, while holding Christ tenderly in her arms & is surrounded on both sides of her throne by 2 angels & 4 Prophets, who hold open inscribed scrolls. Christ blesses with his right hand & with his left he holds a scroll that reads "Spirit of the Lord upon me, who was anointed to preach the gospel to the poor, send me".

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ένα μοναστήρι κοντά στο Αγρίνιο δηλαδή στην περιοχή της Μακρυνείας έξω από το χωριό Γαβαλού. Επαρχιακός δρόμος.
Σε όμορφη τοποθεσία μέσα στα δέντρα.
Έχει βιβλιοθήκη που είναι ένα μικρό μουσείο.
Μας κέρασαν καφέ λουκούμι & βουτήματα.
Υπάρχει ένα μικρό μαγαζάκι με πάρα πολλές εικόνες Αγίων & άλλα πολλά.
Η Μοναχή μας είπε ότι έχει πολλά αγριογουρουνα & ζαρκάδια η περιοχή.
Τέλος θα ήθελα να πω ότι η Εικόνα της Παναγίας είναι θαυματουργηκη.
Γιορτάζει στις 8 Σεπτεμβρίου ?.
Υ.Γ. Εγώ είναι η δεύτερη φορά που πηγαίνω, σήμερα πήγα στου Α' Χαιρετισμούς 11/3/2022
A monastery near Agrinio, ie in the area of Makrynia outside the village of Gavalou. Provincial road.
In a beautiful location in the trees.
It has a library which is a small museum.
We were treated to Turkish delight coffee & crackers.
There is a small shop with many icons of Saints & much more.
The nun told us that the area has a lot of wild boars & deer.
Finally, I would like to say that the Icon of the Virgin Mary is miraculous.
Celebrates on September 8 ?.
