★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Αγια Ελεουσα στο Αιτωλικο ειναι μια επιβλητικη εκκλησια που σιγουρα θες να εοισκεφτεις. Μεσα στους βραχους ξεχωριζει με τα χρωματα που μοιαζουν με το τοπιο γυρω και ταιριαζει αψογα δημιουργοντας μια αρμονια φυσικη. Εχει λιγα σκαλια μεχρι να φτασεις στη εισοδο ομως αξιζει σιγουρα αν βρεθεις σαυτη τη περιοχη. Εχει υπεροχη θεα στο σημειο αυτο και σε ανταμοιβει για ομορφες φωτογραφιες.
Agia Eleousa in Aetoliko is an imposing church that you definitely want to visit. Inside the rocks it stands out with the colors that look like the landscape around and fits perfectly creating a natural harmony. It has a few steps until you reach the entrance but it is definitely worth it if you find yourself in this area. It has a wonderful view at this point and rewards you for beautiful photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πολύ όμορφη μονή με τείχη στο εσωτερικό της από τον βράχο. Η πρόσβαση γίνεται εύκολα με αυτοκίνητο και μετά ανεβαίνετε μερικά σκαλιά. Ο χώρος προσεγμένος και καθαρός. Έξω υπάρχει σημείο που μπορείτε να πάρετε αγιασμό.
Very beautiful monastery with walls inside from the rock. Access is easy by car and then you go up a few steps. The space is neat and clean. Outside there is a point where you can take holy water.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Monastery of Agia Eleousa is a beautiful and inspiring rock-hewn monastery, located around 15 km south to Agrinio, on the north side of Klissoura Canyon.
This is where Yiannis Gounaris, the hero who saved Mesolongi during its first siege by the Ottomans, lived in seclusion.
Above the monastery, the water has sculpted the image of the virgin and a lamb.
Bottom line:
Remarkable site with rich history. Don't miss the picturesque view from the top level!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a hidden gem! If you are enough keen while you drive you could spot this place. If so.. definitely turn around and pay a visit to this stunning church built into the grotto.
The view from the top level is delightful.

I posted a picture in wich the history of this church is written. It s quite a lot of steps to climb to find this hidden beauty, but believe me, it is worth every step. Be careful with little children. The steps are good, but keep the children by the hand for their own safety.
Inside you will feel what the creator meant when he built it. And the view is amazing! Another place you have to see and feel when you pass these mountains.
