★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most beautiful church in the city of Patras. Founded in 1842. Nominated Metropolitan Cathedral in 1856. It is a neoclassic building which follows the Royal Architectural Rhythm (Basilica). Most probably architect was Lyssandros Kaftatzoglou. The interior of the roof was designed by the German architect Ernest Ziller. The painting "The Cessation of Theotokos" (Dormition of Mother of God) is work of the Greek painter Andreas Pressas (1906-1985).
