Buna ziua, Imi puteti spune daca in aceasta biserica mai slujeste un preot roman , asa cum am auzit? Am dori sa organizam o cununie religioasa restransa in familie? Multumesc
Hello, Can you tell me if there is another Romanian priest in this church, as I heard? Would we like to organize a small religious wedding in the family? Thanks

Very beautiful traditional stone temple in Sykia, Halkidiki. On the north hill of Sykia dominates the imposing stone church of Agios Athanasios, which was built in 1814, was destroyed in 1854 (by Macedonian chieftain Tsami Karatasos, who excluded the Turks, who had interfered with Sykkas until then. ), which later sent the money needed to rebuild it in 1861. Inside the temple are interesting ceilings with its geometric motifs and carved umbilicals, the carved wooden iconostasis adorned with vines and raisins Lia and woodwork items of equipment, such as the bishop's throne, the shrines (works of the 18th century, probably coming from Mount Athos).

The imposing stone church of St. Athanasius, built in 1814, was destroyed in 1854 (by the Macedonian chieftain Tsami Karatasos, who blocked the Turks in the church, who had so far defied Sykia and burned them ) and was rebuilt in 1856. Interesting is the wooden ceiling and its wood-carved pilgrimages, works of 1703, which appear to come from Ag. Term. Characteristic is also its masonry and above all its western face. Next to the church there is the wonderful old village school with the stone columns, built in 1868.

The parish church of Agios Athanasios of Sykia is located in the center of the old settlement. It is a three-aisled, wooden-royal basilica. The construction of the temple began in December 1818 and was completed in 1819 by a team of craftsmen from Pentalofos of Voio Kozani, as evidenced by the inscription that adorn the temple externally. Amongst the most interesting features is the wood-carved pilgrimages, works of 1703, which appear to come from Athos mountain. Characteristic is also its masonry and above all its western face. Next to the church there is the wonderful old village school with the stone columns, built in 1868 Two years after the building of the church, in 1821, part of the temple was destroyed by the fire triggered by the Turkish forces in retaliation for the revolutionary movement that broke out in the Halkidiki region. With the money of the villagers and the help of Athonite monks, the temple was repaired in 1839. The temple was rebuilt during the revolutionary events of 1854 by Tsamis Karatasos, who later sent the necessary money for his rebuilding in 1861 .
