★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pious monks, nice place in 'arhodariki', the reception/Cafe place, where u can have water, sweets, coffee and some offered food.
Generally restored monastery, still works being made.
the food is very nice, offered together with the monks. There is also a nice shop for buying religious things.
The monks don't bother u , neither offer a guide nor will tell you the history of the monastery, so u r bit autonomous in the stay.
They have relics of many saints, and after the afternoon service they opened them all for the pilgrims.
You can visit it with boat from Ierisos but at 9 in morning there is a bus for Karies also...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Monsatery of Iviron is located on the east side of the Peninsula just next to the sea. In the center of the Monastery lies the church founded in the 10th century. The Monastery is well known for the feast on the 15th of August – day of the dormition of the Virgin. There is a huge feast and many pilgrims visit the Monastery for the picture of Panaghia Portaitissa.
