Everything is perfect in this place. The staff is helpful and joyful, the food is awesome and the wine that was recommended - we will definitely be fans. Wide range of local food. Thank you for a nice dinner and good time.

Had a fantastic meal, so good we went back the next night!! The fresh fish was lovely, grilled Dorado done to perfection. Next night, mushroom risotto and the wild goat with pasta. Both dishes were exemplary executed. Great local wine and the local brew lager is really good. Can’t recommend highly enough and really good value. Staff are so pleasant and friendly.

Being in Crete for 2 weeks I visited a dozen or so tavernas and bars. But my best memories are of the dinners in Kastro! My family and I tried almost the whole menu (starters, main courses, desserts - pictures below, unfortunately they do not reflect what we had on the table, I paid more attention to savouring and talking) during several visits - everything was very good, fresh, perfectly seasoned, you could feel the good ingredients. Traditional Cretan cuisine, but in an above average way. Service professional, responsive and very, very friendly (even if very busy). Giorgos and the whole family (sorry I can't remember the other names, it's because of the raki, about which below) Thank you for a beautiful story of continuing family traditions! Terrace very spacious, full of plants, clean everywhere. And strong 5 stars for the careful selection of wines (including excellent sparkling!), I was captured by the waiter's ability to professionally describe the wine according to what was later in the nose and mouth. I have not drunk better wines anywhere in Crete. Last but not least, they serve an excellent raki, almond flavoured. It's not as strong as traditional raki, so it's also very good for people who don't like strong alcohol. When I am in Crete, I will definitely return there. Lovely spot for delicious meze and traditional Cretan meal. Service team was extremely helpful and welcoming. Restaurant setup is amazing with overhead jasmine flower providing a relax and refreshing zone to have your wonderful meal. Food was well prepared. We loved the lamb, octopus, prawns, vegetables and especially the tomato pasta !! Kids loved the homemade lemonade and we had amazing wine recommendations from the head waiter who introduced us to local winery just down the road from the restaurant. Wine was dry and fruity perfect for seafood meal we had ;-) We liked it so much that we visited twice in a week !! We will definitely be back again next in Crete. FYI booking is essential as it gets super busy!!

So disappointed to discover this restaurant two nights before our departure.. excellent food great atmosphere service was just perfect the wine they recommended for our starters and plates were some of the best we tasted in Crete. Also the peach ice tea was fabulous the kids couldn't stop talking about it. Would definitely recommend!!

Very friendly staff. The atmosphere here is always warm and just like home. The food is always nice, you can’t have wrong choice. My favorite is always the local sausages, also the dessert they offer is super delicious.

Lovely restaurant with local cuisine and seafood staples. I tried snails for the first time in my life here, and was not disappointed. Their ingredient were incredibly fresh and the octopus dish was very hearty. We visited here with a large group at lunch, when the restaurant wasn't too busy, but walking by it again at night, at night, I could tell the atmosphere gets very lively and warm.

One of favourite restaurants during our week in Crete! Food and drinks were absolutely delicious, staff were lovely and the ambience was great. The serve homemade almond infused raki at the end with dessert and it was so good we went back to buy a bottle to take back home to London. Highly recommended :-)
