★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το Κενοτάφιο βρίσκεται στον πεζόδρομο ''Καλύβα- Μπακογιάννη'', με κατεύθυνση από πλατεία Λαού προς πλατεία Πάρκου, αριστερά.
το 1889 κατασκευάστηκε το κενοτάφιο αυτό σε ανάμνηση της τραγικής θυσίας του Αθανάσιου Διάκου. Είναι ένας Γολγοθάς, δηλαδή συσσώρευση μεγάλων λίθων, που έχει στην κορυφή του μαρμάρινο Σταυρό, τον οποίο περιβάλλουν φύλλα δάφνης. Στην πρόσοψη του Γολγοθά υπάρχει η επιγραφή:
"Ούτος ο τόπος ένθα τήν 23ην Απριλίου 1821 υπό των Τούρκων ανασκολοπισθείς εμαρτύρησε υπέρ Πίστεως καί Ελευθερίας ο Αθανάσιος Διάκος."
Σε άλλη πλάκα, που τοποθετήθηκε το 1930 με τη συμπλήρωση 100 χρόνων ελεύθερης Λαμίας, ο ποιητής Κωστής Παλαμάς έγραψε τους ακόλουθους στίχους:
"Καί των ηρώων καύχημα στήν δόξα του Κυρίου Θανάση Διάκο σ΄ εφερεν ο δαρμός του μαρτυρίου, καί ενω σο`υ σπάραζε κακή φωτιά τό τίμιο σωμα τραγούδι αγγελικό φιλί σου μύρωνε τό στόμα."
Kenotafio is located on the pedestrian street "Kalyva-Bakogianni", in the direction from Laou square to Parkou square, on the left.
in 1889 this cenotaph was built in memory of the tragic sacrifice of Athanasios Diakos. It is a Golgotha, that is, an accumulation of large stones, with a marble Cross at the top, surrounded by laurel leaves. On the façade of Golgotha there is the inscription:
"On April 23, 1821, under Turkish rule, Athanasios Diakos testified in favor of Faith and Freedom."
On another plaque, placed in 1930 with the completion of 100 years of free Lamia, the poet Kostis Palamas wrote the following verses:
"And the boast of the heroes in the glory of Mr. Thanasis Diakos, the torment of martyrdom brought you, and while you were kindling a fiery fire, the honest body, an angelic song, smelled your mouth."
