Kiku - Dimokritou 12

4.4/5 based on 8 reviews

KIKU | The ultimate luxury Japanese experience.

From Kolonaki to Mykonos , this group has present and future. As its creator! It was the first Japanese restaurant in Athens, with a very good clientele. So he saw it as a challenge and as an opportunity at the same time.

A name for two. And following a third. Behind the success of Kiku is hiding the duo who believed in the myth.

Κiku was founded in Athens in 1993 and has since become one of the most distinguished luxury & lounge nightlife brand regarding sushi in Greece.

A very nice place for Japanese Cuisine , The quality of materials remind me of Japan, these restaurant is the closest you can get to Japanese cuisine in Greece (with Matsuhisa on top maybe the view helps a bit more ).

Excellent atmosphere. Very good service. Excellent cocktails. However the food was average at best and the prices way too high for what you get. There are other sushi spots with much higher quality and more interesting prices.

Don’t bother coming - I got refused to be served tap water - I don’t understand how can a restaurant have no water from the tap? I had to speak to their manager to get some tap water after I signalled I would leave

Major disappointment. Says open but clearly closed. Maybe even out of business. Never answers phone. People need to update your businesses, covid isnt an excuse any longer.....

Maybe it’s the cultural difference… we thought we ordered 12 “kinds” of sushi (tokujo) as the menu stated, but what we got was four kinds, 12 pieces of sushi... Not acceptable in Japanese nor the American standards, but maybe it’s normal here…!? I was so shocked and even forgot to take the picture of before. We complained and we were told that’s what the chef decided! Oh well. Very disappointed with their mindset when we were celebrating my BF’s birthday!! Edit - After getting the runaround from the staff and no consolation for the disappointing “Tokujo Omakase” we asked to talk to the manager. He agreed that the wording (difference between “pieces” and “kinds”) on the menu was misleading and intended to have it revised in the future. He also agreed to drop one of the tokujo orders from the bill as a compromise to our disappointment. In conclusion we raised the rating to 3 stars out of respect for the quality of the sushi, the good service from one of our two servers, and the manager’s willingness to make amends.
