B	Bruno Brunakias on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το ορθογώνιο άνοιγμα στο μέτωπο του βράχου στη ΒΔ πλευρά του λόφου των Μουσών, αποτελεί την είσοδο σε δίδυμο ταφικό μνημείο, λαξευμένο μέσα στο φυσικό βράχο. Το ταφικό σύνολο απαρτίζεται από δύο ισομεγέθεις λαξευτές λάρνακες με προσανατολισμό από Ανατολικά προς Δυτικά, που χωρίζονται μεταξύ τους από στενό τοιχίο, έχουν σύμφυτο προσκεφάλι στα Δυτικά και περιμετρική λάξευση για την τοποθέτηση της ταφικής πλάκας. Σύμφωνα με την εγχάρακτη επιγραφή του 3ου αιώνα μ.Χ, που σώζεται στο άνω μέρος του ανοίγματος, ο τάφος άνηκε σε κάποιον Ζωσιμιανό. Η παράδοση ταυτίζει το ταφικό μνημείο με τα "Κιμώνεια Μνήματα", τον τάφο δηλαδή του Ολυμπιονίκη Κίμωνα, πατέρα του Μιλτιάδη, αλλά και του συγγενή τους ιστορικού Θουκυδίδη, που σύμφωνα με τις μαρτυρίες του Ηροδότου, του Μαρκελίνου και του Πλούταρχου, ενταφιάστηκαν απέναντι από την Ακρόπολη κοντά στην ¨δια Κοίλης οδό", η οποία έχει αποκαλυφθεί στα ΒΔ, πολύ κοντά στον τάφο. The rectangular opening in the front of the rock on the NW side of the hill of Muses, is the entrance to a twin burial monument, carved into the natural rock. The burial ensemble consists of two equal-sized carved shrines with orientation from East to West, which are separated by a narrow wall, have a conical headrest in the West and a perimeter carving for the placement of the burial slab. According to the engraved inscription of the 3rd century AD, which is preserved in the upper part of the opening, the tomb belonged to a Zosimianos. Tradition identifies the burial monument with the "Kimoneia Memorials", the tomb of Olympian Kimon, father of Miltiades, but also of their relative the historian Thucydides, who according to the testimonies of Herodotus, Marcellin and Plutarch, were buried Acropolis near the same hollow road ", which has been discovered in the NW, very close to the tomb.

M	Matthew McNaughton on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Another great historical site on Philopappou Hill with a very interesting history, amazing place to wander around for hours reading signs and getting up close and personal with the history without crowds of people (at least in winter) highly recommend exploring the many carved rock tombs and ancient homes in the area. Deaf man's cave and the "prison of socrates" are both very close by.
