Delicious local breakfast with nice staff! Great introduction to Crete if you had just arrived on the overnight ferry.

They have both the sweet (creme filled), savory (cheese filled), and a nice combination of sweet and savory with cheese and honey. I got that and it was tasty! It's a bit pricier than other places I saw, but the atmosphere and friendly service make it worth while. It's a great spot to people watch - full of locals and also tourists. I definitely recommend grabbing a Bougatsa and freddo cappuccino!

The owner actually came out with free tastings of the bugatsas to satisfy our curiosity! We were sold and had to come back in the morning. Legend has it that people from Athens come specially to eat their bugatsa and I don't doubt it. Greek kerasma done right!

Y	YAFEA ALYAFEI on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The eldest bougatsa store in Heraklion. It opened in 1922. If you want an authentic Cretan bougatsa then it's the place to go. It's has a nice view to the lion fountain. Which is a popular location in the centre of Heraklion.

The first was incredible - a perfect combination of salty, sweet and crunchy. The cream bougatsa is worth trying but in my view not as good. They also do excellent coffee.
