Amazing experience - the owner and his son are so friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better day out on the boat. Top service, great boat, we even got photos! thank you for everything!

Well, what to say...we rented a boat (they don't maintain the boats so they are all dirty and sticky) yesterday to go to paralia Menies. The renter didn't tell us that there were big waves on the Bay of Kissamos. We took 1h30 to go to Paralia Menies : during 1 hour I thought that we were going to die ( and I come from an island so i'm used to boats and windy days...). I called the renter to ask what we had to do because we didn't see any boats during our trip... He told me to come back in Kissamos but we were too far. Luckily, due to my boyfriend (Who has a boat driving license) we arrived to paralia Menies. We continued our trip : we had to give back the boat at 6:30 pm to koulymbari. At 5:30 pm the motor wouldn't working. We called the renter who sent us a video of how to open the motor and using a rope to start the engine... Fortunately, a greek fisherman came to our help. He was very surprised when we Said to him that we came from Kissamos (even with his experience and his big boat, he doesn't fish in this Bay....). The renter was very kind and for that, we didn't dare ask à refund but we pay 150 + 40 (fuel) euros for a dangerous trip... Conclusion : don't come to this renter (and don't rent a boat in the Kissamos bay, especially if you have Kids or if you don't have experience with a boat) ...

We hired a 30HP boat (no boat license needed) for the day in September for €120. The guy rushed us onto the boat, showed us how to turn the engine on and go forward/backward. That was all the driving lesson, then he sent us on our way. This wasn’t a sufficient enough lesson for the conditions of the sea around kissamos bay. We went up to Gramvousa beach and snorkelled in a ship wreck (worth it - but buy snorkels before you go!) then we went to Balos beach for the day and we all agreed it was one of the most beautiful beaches on Crete. If you hire a boat, definitely go to Balos. It's so worth it, but if you're navigating yourself, keep your phone navigation on, we ended up going sailing past Balos and went 30 mins down the coast by accident. After Balos, it was about 4pm and we decided to head back. At this point, the sea was so choppy and ridiculously unsafe for a boat as small as ours. We'd never driven a boat before, so it was pretty tough to know how to drive (into the waves or across them?) when it's tough conditions. We ended up behind one of the large ferrys and the waves from the back of those nearly capsized us. We were pretty scared as four people that'd never hired a boat before. There were no life jackets either. PLEASE if you hire a boat from here, insist you take life jackets onboard!! Looking at other reviews, it looks like we're not the only ones who had really choppy conditions in the afternoon. Luckily one of our group was quite confident driving the boat so we made it back to shore, but I genuinely think we would've capsized if he wasn't with us. We didn't see any coastguard, so you really are alone if you get stuck. MAIN TAKEAWAYS: - Don't leave without life jackets!! - Check sea conditions before you leave - Ideally, have someone in the group with boat driving experience

Difficult to review as we had a pretty traumatic experience. Had the conditions been better then I’m sure we would’ve loved it, but like some other reviews, this place just doesn’t seem to consider the dangers of sending inexperienced tourists out to see without a life jacket and less than 5 minutes boat driving lesson. Don’t bother, do the organised trip instead and maybe try a pedalo.

Rented a boat for the day to go to Balos. Boat was in perfect condition, and the people were exceptionally kind. Highly recommended!

Deserved less than this but he gave me a discount so will give 3 stars. Not the best experience at all. After telling us that it will be a choppy day but that we can reach Balos in 45 minutes we decided to go regardless of the wind. In the end, we ended up confronting 2-3 meters high waves and took us 1h30min to get to balos, the trip was hazardous and not pleasant in any way especially in the bay. We got to enjoy Gramvousa and Balos but the scare of the way back was ruining the moment. After asking to other boat renters they told me that they had a half day price (120 +fuell) for a full day (180 +fuell) rental because coming back at 1-2 pm was too hazardous. I confronted the owner about it and about our trip (I believe that someone without a license should have never let rent a boat in these conditions) he was quite agressive and I finally managed to bring the price down to half a day. Sumup: Great trip if the waters are calm (be sure they are) Not suited for people with no experience in boat especially on a choppy day The owner barely briefs you on how the boat works and is agressive when you confront him Need previous experience (how to take out a blocked anchor (i helped a client with his) , adjusting the motor angle of attack to better confront waves, etc.) Gramvousa and Balos and wonderfull

We rented a boat to go to Balos and loved it so much that a few days later rented it again and went to the same beach. It was an amazing experience! So, if you are around, don’t go there by car or by a stinky old ship - take a private boat. The owner and his son were super kind & friendly and showed us how to use the boat and tank it if needed. One recommendation: if you are not very experienced, don’t go when the waves are too strong as you might not feel comfortable. After the boat trip we always stayed for a glass of beer and a snack but also came a few times for a proper Lunch/dinner.

Fantastic experience right from the start looked after with competent advise and instructions and all considerations to guarantee a safe a enjoyable day on the water. After an exciting trip out to Balos Beach and islands weather conditions picked up a bit and we were supported with a guide in another boat just to make sure we felt safe and had a good time. Top service boats in great conditions and it is the best way to reach the beach. And after an awesome day on the water great to chill out back at the rental location on the sun deck and reflect on the day. Just perfect can only recommend. (Edit after reading other post a general understanding of how a boat works and what it means to drive out in to the open sea should be considered but the friendly owners and staff are there to help if you are unsure they will help. If there is wind you need to take the shelter of the coast and stay away from open waters, if there is no wind enjoy it ?)
