Beautiful location, traditional farmhouse villa and very peaceful

Stayed in Kourkoulios villa for 8 days with small kids the house is amazing, very comfy, clean and fully equipped. We enjoyed every moment is this villa. The pool was magnificent and clean. Our host was very professional and friendly he was there every time we needed him with extra tips to make our stay unforgettable. Villa is situated in the middle between Chania and Rethymno so is very easy to move around. We hope to be back soon.

Beautiful views. This villa really is great find. With it's own private pool. Originally dates back to 1800s. You really will not be disappointed. Surrounded by orange, lemon and fig trees. We are the first family to stay here since the covid 19 pandemic and was made to feel very welcome. Friendly locals and local taverna (Kostas) 10 minute walk away- a real Cretan experience. We will definitely be back.

We've just stayed at this lovely house for 2 weeks in August. The house is an old bakery, which has been in the owner's family for generations and is perfect for a quiet holiday in real Crete. The pool is a decent size, with stunning views of olive grove covered hills on one side, the mountains on the other and the Cretan Sea in the far distance. The house is well equipped, with plenty of towels, cleaning products, great aircon and very comfortable beds. The two main bedrooms share a bathroom and the little annex with twins beds and its own kitchen and shower room would be great for teenagers and young adults. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave and coffee filter machine. We used the fridge in the annex as our drinks fridge. There's a fantastic family run taverna about 10 minutes walk away, in the village of Maza. We ate here many times - just sit and Costas will deliver whatever is on the menu that day. You'll need a car - we went for a coffee and bread every morning in the nearest town, Vrysses, where there are several small supermarkets and a fabulous bakery. Chania is about 35kms away. The villa is well placed for exploring the North, west and south-west of Crete. We met the owner's family a couple of times when they came to check the pool levels - they are very helpful and were able to answer questions on the area and the fascinating history of the house. We were shown how to pick and peel fresh figs from the garden and told the best place to buy local yoghurt (Vrysses - drop in to the deli on your left as you drive in to town). A note on cleanliness and Covid response - the villa is spotless, with the remote contols and a torch packaged after cleaning and plenty of hand sanitizer in the house. Around Crete, everyone wears masks in shops and restaurants (until seated). We found it a safe place to travel. I can't recommend this house highly enough - it's perfect for peace and for experiencing something a little different to the normal seaside resorts. Waking every morning to the view of the hills visible from our bed, listening to nearby cockerels crowing and the bells of the hillside goats, lying by the pool and watching the buzzards wheel overheard and listening to the cicadas - all a little slice of Cretan heaven. A very special holiday.
