We had a wonderful time — breakfast was unique and special, filter coffee & lungo dopio were great. Excellent service. Ambience fantastic. Magical!

My travel companions and I passed the bar (we affectionately called the smirking penguin, due to the picture on the outer wall), on the way up the hill to dinner at Orizontes. We had walked around Arhens all day, a d decided to finish the night on a walk down the hill to out hotel (NJV Athens Plaza). Halfway down the hill, we can across Kowalski Bar (aka Smirking Penguin) again. Sounds like fate... right? At least a place for a drink! We sat outside and noticed the small ferris wheel decoration and an design motif in the style of Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge movie. We decided Cocktails and dessert were the call of the night! We had VinSanto (raisinated dessert wine), a passion fruit mule, a spicy tequila and mezcal cocktail and a pineapple cocktail. These were the best Cocktails we had during our stay in Athen! Well thought out, beautifully balanced and delicious. We also ordered the creme brulee and a chocolate sphere dessert. The creme brulee was the perfect "just set" consistency. Creamy and rich, without being over cooked. A lovely crispy sugar shell and some blackberry and passionfruit on top. The chocolate down (with liquid chocolate sauce pour over to reveal the tasty things underneath). Lots of different flavors and textures and chocolate. While it was a quick stop, Kowalski Bar was memorable and delicious. Highly recommend if you are in the part of Athens, or if you are going to/coming from Orizontes on the hill. I ordered a pineapple madness coctail, fisrt course - shrimps tampura and main course - greek pasta with meat Cost 32.5 euro total. The food was good and the coctail was great. The place itself looks very nice. The staff should smile more ? Thank you.

Nice place, nice decoration! Very tasty cheese plateau with nice variety... The only drawback was that the music is really loud even for those who sit outside... Possibly in order to cover the traffic noise (which would be even worse to hear) but the result was that we had to speak loudly.

Vintage feel. Very decent choice for the centre of Athens. Menu a bit limiting if you cannot drink caffeine but overall a nice experience. Bathroom is immaculate

Only looks, no substance. Too expensive, quality of food was very poor for the money, 13 euros for a pizza that has raw toppings is not exactly a good deal. (and even drinks for that matter, which is surprising given that a glass of sparkling wine shouldn't be already stale when served) Service was excellent though, but that alone can't save an establishment. It's a shame really.

It feels like this place has a soul, nice soft music, outstanding design. Saturday morning felt calm and relaxing there, although I came just to get some coffee and baguettes. Waitress was very helpful. Would definitely consider to dine in. P.S. I love Kowalski character in Madagascar, sure thing it adds extra points to the place to me:)
