Kozi's - P. Tsaldari 34

4.5/5 based on 8 reviews

On the 26th March 2010 Kozi’s first opened its doors to the world, stamping its initiation in the world of dining with a modest beginning of nine tables. What Kozi chose to do was to provide a fusion between the two cuisines with which he had grown up and truly loved - the Greek and the South African. So, on that day in March, Kozi decided to take a leap of faith and pursue his dream. The result was none other than a restaurant focused on taking a different approach towards the term “dining”. Simple, yet delicious, recipes were constantly being tested and adopted by our patrons, and through their feedback we were given the opportunity to rediscover our passion and creativity every single day.

Today, a few years later, the restaurant may seem different, but its roots remain the same. Our compass is unambiguous and not under negotiation; people and food always come first. Our patrons’ appetite must be satisfied in the best manner possible, and our food must meet the strictest standards that we set out for ourselves - and that is none other than that of homemade food cooked to perfection. It is this same compass that has steered us through all the moments that we have had the opportunity to experience and gratefully enjoy, and it will continue to do so.

I've been coming to Athens all my life, and how I've managed to only discover Kozi's now is beyond me! I might be slightly biased (given that I am myself half Greek and half South Africa, and grew up on this type of food) but I can honestly say, on par with Nolan in the city centre, this is THE BEST alternative restaurant in Athens (if you are vegan or vegetarian, Nolan is more for you). Value for money is average, but the food and service is so far from average it's scary. Definitely make sure you go with an empty stomach, a lot of free time and have the "boerewors" (South African sausage).

The place is nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly however I was not very happy with the meat. Nothing was wrong with it but I have had better in other places. The “picania” was quite thick and had a thin sauce on top which I didn’t really like. I prefer the meat plain. The sauce had pepper on top and the kids were not really happy with it. We got two different kind of meats and I could not tell the difference between them with the sauce on top of them. I know it’s very popular place but not my kind of place.

As a South African, it is always great to have a taste of home. The food here was stupendous. All our steaks were cooked perfectly, with a fantastically familiar South African flair. The staff are all very friendly, and can communicate in both Greek and English (if not more). Slightly limiting for any non-meat eaters. Setting was spacious and colourful, with a view of the kitchen. Very clean in all areas! Value for money as our party enjoyed the outing, will definitely be going back!

Highly recommended restaurant. Amazing South African flavors. Food cooked as well delivered with amazing traditional dressings. Location is great with a lot of parking lots near the restaurant. No waiting list and easy to sit on table.

Situated on a main road in Melissia, easy to find but parking isn’t great. Stunning food, authentic South African spices - we had a prego wrap, and a spicy chicken wrap, both were delish. Other members of our party got a steak, cooked at a perfect medium rare, and pork chops which were also cooked beautifully. If you’re a meat lover, you’ll be in your element. Highly recommend the coleslaw, nicest I’ve ever had! Dessert was a deconstructed cherry cheesecake, mouthwatering! Decent pricing and great sized portions, and fast flowing restaurant. You can’t book so make sure you get there at a good time. Anytime we can get up there, we visit and we’re never disappointed. Excellent staff, charismatic, happy and all with an brilliant level of English. Beautiful decor, very well laid out. Super clean, and extensively following covid guidelines - even providing masks at the door incase you need one.
