Lafkos Estate - Unnamed Road

Full of character - the perfect holiday destination! We had an incredible family holiday at Lafkos estate. Below are the things that stood out for us: Feels like a family home - this property had a very distinctive feeling of being someone’s actual home (not the typical Ikea catalogue rental property decor of the Airbnb era). Everything from the gorgeous carpets and tapestries, the incredibly practical kitchen, the grand piano in the family room, to possibly the best collection of books I have ever encountered - all point to a home that is ‘lived in’ Lots of space - all the rooms are generously proportioned and the outdoor space within the estate is enormous. Perfect for a large group of people or a family with active kids that need room to run around. The driveway is large enough to park a dozen cars! Practical - The house has wifi throughout the property and the kitchen is better equipped that the one we have at home! There is a separate room for laundry with a washer and a dryer (as well as an indoor and outdoor space for drying clothes). There was a heatwave in Greece when we visited so the air-conditioning (in every bedroom) proved to be really valuable. There was heaters in all the rooms, which I expect would be helpful in the winter. Perfectly located - the house feels very quiet and private but is a 5 min walk from the centre of the village, which has 3 restaurants, a wonderful bakery (that will deliver to the house if you ask nicely), a pharmacy and 2 convenience stores. The town of Milina is a short drive away where we found a quiet beach for a quick swim, plenty of restaurants and a few larger shops (particularly helpful as the kids had forgotten their swimming goggles at home and we found them here). Within a 30 min drive are some other beaches on the Aegean Sea side (Mikro and Potistika). The village and the surrounding areas are very local - there were hardly any tourists here, even through it was peak summer holiday season, which is wonderful because everything felt a lot more authentic! Great hosts - the owners of the property were incredibly accessible and helpful. They sent us an email with a detailed set of suggestions, all of which were spot-on. They clearly know the area very well and were happy to share their knowledge. We took the liberty of calling and messaging hem several times during our stay and they always responded promptly and gave us all the assistance we needed for a wonderful stay. I have stayed in dozens of villas across Europe and this is my favourite!
