★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to get a panaromic view of Athens, without the same crowds at The Acropolis. Just hike up and down the easy trail. Don't take the tram, which is entirely enclosed in a tunnel and only about 100 meters long, quite a rip-off at 10 Euro a piece...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The highest place in Athens, worth the climb, it is important to note that in order to reach the cable car on foot you have to climb stairs, or you can take a taxi to the cable car, however when you reach the top you forget all the difficult ascent, it is recommended to reach the mountain at sunset so you will see Athens in completely different view

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quick shuttle (20 minutes with waiting) up to the top of Lycabettus hill and Orozontes restaurant.
It also offers a small shop while you wait. There is no real schedule even though there is one posted. They go when the cars are full up top or at the bottom. For us, it beat having to hike although walking down might have been nice if we didn’t need to get back to our Airbnb.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Too crowded. People just glue themselves to the floor, and just don't move once they are done with the photos, so that another can also experience the moment. We took a cab at 15 euros and the return cab was 18 euros

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a great things to do at night (or sunset), I recommend taking the one way to go and then come down afoot.
There is a really beautiful view and you can see the Acropoli lighten at night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place to visit and to experience stunning sunset view over Athens. I climbed up the hill out of the season, and I can only imagine how crowded it can get, but it's still worth it even if's absolutely stuffed with people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The experience once we were up the mountain was great. It was very busy though! So beware (but honestly, every tourist place in Athens is busy!). We stumbled upon the sunset by accident and it was lovely to see it from Mount Lycabettus. If you haven't climbed another hill that day (like we did Acropolis), go there by foot from the Evagelismos metro station. It's a steep hill and in the end there are a LOT LOT LOT of stairs. It may show like 500 meters or so on maps, and trust me, all of that is HILL. We should've taken a bus that day because by the time we got to the cable car, we already felt like we climbed the mountain. Paying 10€ for the round trip of up and down seemed unnecessary. 7.5€ for one way which is a ridiculous price difference. I don't mind the unspectacular ride up. The cable car was in an okay condition.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A MUST DO WHILE IN ATHENS!
The views are breathtakingly spectacular- AND really illustrate how HUGE the city of Athens is. There are two ways to get to the top: The Funicular ( Also called cable car by locals, but it's a funicular) or walk.
MY TAKE: If you walk to the Funicular like we did, there ARE PLENTY of steps just to get there. If you elect to take a taxi, walking up the hill is probably fun. We decided to pay the 9 Euros round-trip ( cost is 7 Euros one way) to take Funicular. The ride up takes over 2 minutes and was slightly creepy to me, because it's inside a closed tunnel. But the time goes by fast ( I took a video which I will attach). This hill is 277 Meters above sea level and offers a 360 Panoramic veiw of the city- which was truly unbelievable. There is a small church and restaurant on top. This IS DEFINITELY worth the time. The Funicular ran on time ( see attached schedule) and the operator was friendly. In other reviews, some described the employee who sells tickets ? was rude, but she was pleasant the day we went. There is small gift store as well. Highly recommended ?
