A bit of a steep trek up to the top but the views are stunning, so well worth the effort. We went up around 6pm and stayed for the sunset, which was beautiful. Pretty little church at the top and a large restaurant. A definite must see in Athens.

One of the best places to watch the sunset in Athens, on top of Licabetus Hill, in front of Saint George Licabetus church. The main inconvenient is that is crowded, and the place is not very large. If you want to take a good place, you need to be there at least one hour before sunset. There are also very good views of the city, and the Acropolis, at night, when the sun is gone, and all the lights are on.

You can have here a good hiking, because he hill is not easy, but it's worth your efforts. From the top it's open a great view for all city. And there are also some restaurants, where you can sit and enjoy good food with beautiful view!

It's the best place to view the city of Athens from above and especially during sunset. Astonishing landscape. It might get very windy!

If you are looking for a panoramic view of Athens, there couldn't be a better place than here. Some what of a walk, then you must either take the fenicular (small train) or climb the stairs to the top. It would be best to come early, since there is not a lot of room by the church.

Lycabettus is the highest hill in the Greek capital with spectacular views of entire city, the Acropolis hill and all the way over the sea and the Egina island. There're 3 ways to reach the top: 1. hiking on foot, which is pretty challenging as the hill is very steep, and I wouldn't do it, but it's free - no entrance fee 2. by car almost to the top where's a parking lot, and then little bit of walking. This one is often closed, so it's a gamble, but it's also free, 3. paying a funicular - you can opt for a return ticket or for one way and then descend down on foot. Once up, views are amazing and there's also a small picturesque Church at the top, along with a restaurant (with high prices as you guess). Best time to come is late afternoon before sunset.

We can get up on foot and by transport - due to time constraints, we chose the latter this time. After some stair climbing and a cable car ride, you can reach the top of the mountain, from where you can see the panorama of Athens in its fullest splendor. A magical sight, especially at sunset. There are plenty of intrusive people here, which is quite disturbing to immerse yourself in the sight. But it is still mandatory and unmissable. We will definitely try the walking version on our next visit.
