This hotel was the best place i have ever stayed in. The quality of the decor was amazing, we were lucky to have the room with a balcony overlooking the harbour and a portion of glass floor looking down the old walls, perfect.

Worth every penny Well, I can start saying that Madonna del Mare was – if not the best - definitelly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in my life (I’ve been to 37 countries so far). And I can say this for a lot of reasons: This Boutique Hotel is quite UNIQUE. Located in an old historic building, specifically a Monastery, and it’s simply wonderful how they were able to mix the ruins and the modern with such a maestry. You have very modern rooms and, at the same time, part of the old ruins were left untouched, nicely preserved... it’s a thing you can call a magical blend. The location is 10 out of 10 for sure. You’ll be in the hearth of Chania’s old town and you’ll be able to reach the main places by walking 3 to 5 minutes. There are A LOT of options around (restaurants, cafes, shops, the lovely old venetian harbor, the sea, archeological places really well preserved and so on!) Oh my God... that unforgettable Brigitte Bardot room! It has 02 big environments, a balcony with sea view and the quality of everything, furnishings included, in the room is unbelievable. They followed very very high standarts and it’s also impressive how they paid attention to every single detail! There you’ll find basically everything to perfection: super fast wi-fi, fluffy towels, outstanding sheets, comfy pillows, bathrobe (all very new). The airconditioning system works great, and the bathroom is amazing and spacious. The apartment itself is completely new, super comfortable and clean – with a big bônus: a beautiful view over the old Venetian harbour of Chania from the balcony! Not to forget to mention: what a great surprise to find lots of gifts – no cost at all – inside the room, including wine on the bed, chocolates, homemade cakes, coffee/tea and a nespresso inside the room, fruits and so on! How not to be in love? Hahahha. Vangelis, the owner, have done a fantastic job here. Talking about this guy... what a warm and friendly welcome! I felt home immediately. Vangelis is one of a kind! Such an amazing and positive person, he took me to give a short and interesting walk around the city just to show me a bit of everything. Gave me a detailed city map, showed me a lot of amazing points, told me a bit about the history... I had never had a reception like this! It’s simply impressive how he makes a huge and positive difference on your staying. That’s also good to point that he was always reachable on and available on whatsapp for any need/question/etc. And just to finish, you can be sure you’ll receive the best recommendations for food and where to have fun... this guy knows his place! All I can say is thank you so much for everything, Vangelis! I extend my thanks entirely to the other Vangelis, who works at the hotel, because he is also an amazing and smiling person that helped me with everything I needed. I’ve stayed as well in another room of this stunning boutique hotel; the Frida Kahlo room, which is also adorable and unique, different from the Brigite Bardot room, but really well decorated and made to perfection! Madonna del Mare exceeded all of my expectations and I really can’t wait to come back to Chania someday just to have this lovely experience one more time! ————— Not a negative point, just a reminder: as it is a Boutique Apartment Hotel, there is no typical “reception”, so remember that check-in requires communication (simple and fast, by the way).

This place is incredible. Very beautifully decorated and so super comfortable. The lines of communication are always open and so friendly. I will take this over a typical hotel any day. It's your home away from home:)

We were very disappointed by this hotel. The bathtub was not working and was very dirty. They also said they will give us a reduction for our next travel because of the bad experience we had but they never send it to us.

Fantastic place , close to the heart of the Old Port of Chania. Our Host was super friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and tidy. An all around excellent experience. Highly recommended!

You get what you read - perfect and quiet location 5 min max walk to old town - excellent support on all our questions regarding restaurants and places to visit.

Nicely decorated suite with excellent location. I was astonished by the absence of cleaning service and by the huge delay regarding a technical issue of the air-conditioning (no heating in early December). It took almost 1,5 hrs and talking to 3 persons till I was given a little fan heater (at 00:30), which I could only use shortly before sleep. This issue reduced not only the quantity, but also the quality of my sleep, as I was cold during the night. Needless to say how important is a good sleep, especially during a business trip! The heating issue was only tackled after 18 hours, during which I had to push the person in charge to bring a technician. On top of that, the management never offered me any kind of compensation. Instead of that, when I returned from work the next day, I found out that my mugs had not been washed (there was no sponge or soap to wash them myself anyway) and basically there was no cleaning service, which is something I encountered for the first time in my life and I could never expect it from suites!
