Οι Μοναχοί διατηρούσαν παράδοση στην ιατρική χρήση βοτάνων, έτσι όταν η κόρη κάποιου σουλτάνου αρρώστησε ήρθε εδώ και μοναχοί την έσωσαν με αποτέλεσμα ο σουλτάνος σε ανταλλαγμα να υπογράψει φετφά ώστε κανείς τούρκος να μην πλησιάζει το μοναστήρι. Κατά την επανάσταση του 1821 χρησιμοποιήθηκε σαν καταφύγιο-στρατηγείο των κλεφταρματωλών του Ταϋγέτου (Νικηταρας, Παπαφλέσσας Αναγνωσταράς κτλ). Στρατηγικό σημείο με εκπληκτική θέα σε όλη τη λεκάνη της Αλαγονίας (πισινά χωριά του Μυστρά).
The monastery operated around 1500. It was Stavropegiaki. The monks maintained a tradition in the medical use of herbs, so when a sultan's daughter fell ill she came here and monks saved her, with the result that the sultan in return signed a fatwa so that no Turk would approach the monastery. During the revolution of 1821 it was used as a shelter-headquarters of the kleftarmatoles of Taygetos (Nikitaras, Papaflessas Anagnostaras etc). Strategic point with stunning views throughout the basin of Alagonia (pool villages of Mystras).
