Mare Dei Suites Hotel Ionian Resort, large rooms, super large balcony with panoramic views, good breakfast, private beach (we didn’t use it though as we went to Skafidia Beach Club), however parking area is unsealed. Ensure you drive to the hotel from the Leventochori side and not from the Skafidia side as the road is sand and longer (our hire car ended up white with sand/dust). Where do I start, I’m not sure I want to tell you how good this place is, it’s a bit of a hidden gem. Near isolated boutique hotel of only 20 odd suits (there was a cluster of 3 villas near by who shared the hillside and beach). Hillside location right on a private beach. Uninterrupted panoramic views of the Ionian. Spectacular sunsets over the water every night. Clean, modern and spacious suits. When I looked at the menu for the restaurant, I felt a bit disappointed at first. It read like a london restaurant, and I was in Greece. But we had a go anyway. These guys have taken Greek cuisine and elevated it to an international level. It was at its heart Greek, but it wouldn’t be out of place in top restaurant in London or Athens. I was very impressed. I was looking at the Westin, Costa Navarino but was put off by the price. The Mare Dei Ionian delivered what I expected of the Westin at nearly a third of the price in a hotel a tenth of the size. If you like a bit of privacy, a bit of intimacy, you don’t want to be in a 200 room hotel with another the same size just next door. But you want something quite a bit above the average Greek seaside resort, these guys deliver it in spades. The staff were all very friendly and everything we asked for we got. It’s not without faults but I’ve stayed in some much more expensive places that have delivered comparably less. Top marks My top tip: there is clay deposits at either end of the beach, and throughout our stay people would walk to either end and cover themselves in clay mud as you would get in a spa resort, then after it dries wash it off in the sea.

Wanted to experience the calm side of Greece in its truest tranquility form and our stay exceeded all expectations... The boutique hotel is beautiful and well designed. The rooms are stylish, large and modern. The view is just breathtaking, I can’t even describe it, it’s like something from a movie. There is a wonderful large infinity pool where we could relax and eat the delicious bar food. Then we would stroll down to the private secluded sandy beach to swim in the warm Ionian Sea. The restaurant felt romantic - watching the sunset eating fresh tasty food and browsing the small carefully selected wines, all sourced locally. The staff were so lovely, kind and attentive. We saw a mixture of couples and families, but it never seemed crowded. We really can’t thank you enough for our stay, we have left feeling calm, relaxed, happy and recharged. We will see you soon.

Amazing! First of all the hotel operates following the state guidelines for the prevention of COVID, making you feel safer. It has it's own cove, as if it is private. The sea is great, the pool is fantastic, the staff is friendly and professional. Value for money. We will definetely visit again.

A visitor/customer might feel like a small King in a small "Minoan like Palace" resort.! Very polite and friendly Staff : cleaners and waiters/waitresses The food was good but it didn't meet a 4 Star resort standards. We didn't enjoy to the full all services for the price we paid, due to Covid 19 restrictions...!

Positives; The rooms are large with great sea views. The beach access is amazing. Negatives; The rooms are directly connected by a door and you can hear everything in the next room. The restaurant serves the same food every day for half board, the menu is limited and became boring after one meal. With nowhere else to eat locally the restaurant takes the shine off the really good elements of the hotel.

The treatment of the guests is unfortunately shameful. It is pure exploitation. They try to squeeze every cent out of it. You have to rely on the restaurant because there is no alternative far and wide. The restaurant is unfortunately not very good and quite expensive, even side dishes and bread have to be paid extra. I like to spend a lot of money on good food but here you feel ridiculed. At the pool, you are not even allowed to drink the water you brought with you in the heat, but only the water you bought at the pool bar. It was particularly shameful to see a guest's fruit, which he could not finish at breakfast and wanted to take away, being taken away and thrown away. The next day there was a sign in front of the breakfast buffet indicating that only breakfast could be taken in the restaurant. It was really petty. The staff there are politely aloof and not the least bit cordial. We won't be coming back and we won't be advertising it to anyone we know. It is a pity that the place is really beautiful.
