★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After being recommended this place by locals I went to this place because it received so much praise and it was up to my expectations! We seated ourselves outside on the balcony which gave us a beautiful view over the city. We ordered the pork and chicken that they specifically make there with a special kind of way to cook the food which gave it a very specific but flavourful taste. The staff was very nice. Overall it's a restaurant I'd recommend if you want to eat a lot or just something local. I do recommend only ordering one portion of chicken or pork per 2 persons because it's quite a big portion they give you.
I'd surely come back here.9

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a lovely dinner at Melina during our stay in Crete! They serve a unique barbeque style found only in Crete, and the lamb was out of this world. The staff and owner were so welcoming too, which added to the overall specialness of the meal!

Fabulous owner who is very welcoming and great service.
Food is very reasonably priced and very nice.
Just for note, not open after 6pm in 2021 due to Covid and lack of trade.
Make a stop on the way down from the Fortress and enjoy the impressive views.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were quite happy when we found this restaurant after a long walk. We were greeted in our native language by the friendly waiter, who speaks 8 languages. The staff was very pleasant all around, the prices were decent and this place has a great view of the city while you can rest in the shade.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dined yesterday at this place with my family. We didn't like it and here's why. A guy who is the manager or perhaps the owner of this cafe offered a special meat offer for my family for 24 euros per person. But at the end of the dinner we received a bill for 66 euros more. Also, the meat looked like leftovers. Only the seafood dishes were good. Of course, I paid the bill in full as we are grateful guests. But unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. Probably the only plus of this cafe is the beautiful view from the terrace. But we all know that this is not a problem for beautiful Rethymno, as there are many cozy cafes and restaurants nearby. I feel cheated.
