★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely and elegant meal in a spectacular setting. The serve staff are warm, welcoming and attentive to every detail. Each plate was a piece of art in presentation and delicious. The chef is master. The menu focuses on local cuisine and fresh sourced ingredients. It reputation as one of the best restaurants in Crete is well deserved.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a beautiful place! The wait staff was very friendly and the food was just amazing. Our highlights were the fish carpaccio, tuna tataki with cucumber salad and the goat - best meal we had in a while :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place for a Romantic dinner.
The garden is gorgeous and it gives the vibe of a typical night in Greece.
Stuff attentive and very friendly.
The menu is divided in 5 set menus, but if you want you can order dishes as you like from each menu.
They use a lot of goat cheese, so if you like it that’s the right place. I personally don’t like it, there are not other options for cheese, but many without. Definitely recommended !
Also they always offer, when you ask the bill, the typical Greece shot “after dinner” .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ never expected this. my girlfriend found this in her guide, so we gave it a try. since they also offer a degustation menue(ask for it), the decision was simple. of course! about 100 euro for 6 courses including wine pairing.for this you get a variety of greek dishes you won t normally see in the typical restaurants here, at least not prepared that way. everything organic, everything local, modern and creative, sometimes with international influences and nearly all of the bold and with a punch to your taste buds. mostly this works well, with some flaws here and there, when parts of the dish overpower others. wines are all greek, especially the rose wine was fantastic.
with each dish comes a different olive oil, poured into it, to support the taste. in my humble opinion i would have liked to have it on the side, to get the pure taste and pour myself to get the experience. a list with the oils would have been nice as well(you can buy them there) anyway, it was a great experience, food was great, waiters very nice, helpfull and willing to explain(or to bring some oil to taste), the restaurant itself a beauty, so if you visit rethymno give it a try. i would anytime!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The cooking lesson at Avli was such a wonderful experience! After a small miscommunication on our booking, the staff and head chef still made sure we could go ahead with the lesson and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The touch of cooking outdoors added so much to the experience as well. The passion and knowledge for food the head chef has is absolutely incredible and every cooking class we do moving forward will have a high level to match!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was delicious. I had the Vegan menu. Unfortunately, there's no Vegetarian choice, so either vegan or meat (respectively fish). But, it was really good. Also the fish and meat dishes my companions had were very rich in taste and composition. The wine "tasting" next to the four course menu was great. If you like chocolate, try the chocolate dessert above all.
The atmosphere is lovely but gets very busy from around 21h even though being seated in the patio we were very protected from the crowds outside. If I remember correctly, it's not well suited for wheelchairs. Smaller groups (up to ten people) don't seem to be a problem if you reserve a table in advance.
We waited quite long for our first dish, which made it a very long seating even though we had been told the first seating of the night was from 19-21:30 and the second from 21:30-24h. We left the restaurant after 22h, having arrived at 18:30, so take your time!
