Yes it’s at the top of the hill with a view of the city and water but the food is just good. The lamb shank is tender and the seafood pasta was good. It’s not worth the drive.

The cheese rolls were also superb but we had to suppress our appetite for the main course. They gave out free appetizers, raki and a dessert, and honestly only costed us half what we have been paying for the rest of the restaurants we ate at in Santorini. Definitely worth the drive to Pyrgos for this restaurant.
l	liilit on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Greece is famous for its taverns, and fear not, you will get a decent Greek food if you happen to find a quality tavern. Metaxi Mas was a gem on Naxos Island. I mean from the romantic location, to friendly and fast service to delicious food. We loved it so much that after being disappointed in taverns close by - went back to Mataxi Mas for 3 times in total. Host and possibly owner Vassilis (forgive me if I got your name wrong) was basically working the floor alone with only a little help and managed to do it better then an army of staff in any other restaurant. And the prices were also decent. For instance a whole grilled Dorado 14 eur. (A must!) So.. if you happen to end up in Naxos, give it a try. For the best seat in the house make a reservation, or just go when they open at 6pm.
