το γλυπτό σύμπλεγμα που φιλοτέχνησε ο Κύπριος γλύπτης Παναγής Παναγιώτης, παριστάνει μία Μικρασιάτισσα μάνα με τη μικρή κόρη της μετά τη Μικρασιατική καταστροφή, συμβολίζει τους ανθρώπους που ξεριζώθηκαν από τη Μικρά Ασία αλλά και το πείσμα τους να συνεχίσουν τη ζωή τους.
Το μνημείο που είναι κατασκευασμένο από μπρούντζο έχει διαστάσεις 2,70 μέτρα ύψος και 97 εκατοστά πλάτος, ενώ η βάση στην οποία έχει εγκατασταθεί έχει διάμετρο 1,20 μέτρα. Η κατασκευή της βάσης έχει επενδυθεί με λευκό και γκρι μάρμαρο, ενώ καλύπτει 10 τετραγωνικά μέτρα στον χώρο της πλατείας Μεταπολιτεύσεως.
The inscription reads: "Monument of genocide and uprooting of Greeks in Asia Minor, 1922. The unveiling of this monument took place on September 19, 2009 during the City Hall of Kyriakos Virvidakis".
The sculptural complex created by the Cypriot sculptor Panagis Panagiotis, depicts a mother from Asia Minor with her little daughter after the Asia Minor catastrophe, symbolizes the people who were uprooted from Asia Minor and their stubbornness to continue their lives.
The monument, which is made of bronze, has dimensions of 2.70 meters in height and 97 centimeters in width, while the base on which it has been installed has a diameter of 1.20 meters. The construction of the base is lined with white and gray marble, while it covers 10 square meters in the area of Metapoliteseos square.
