N	Norbert Schröder-Vorwerk on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eigentlich nur aus Bildern und Berichten bekannt und zufällig im Vorbeifahren gesehen. Natürlich neugierig angehalten und erst zaghaft auf die Brücke, meine Frau hat mich "gesichert". Dann war da auch noch auf der anderen Brückenseite ein Mann und wir wußten nicht, das diese Brücke hier frei begehbar ist. Erstaunlich, wie gut diese alte Brücke noch erhalten ist, bedenkt man zudem das hier früher mal erbittert gekämpft und geschossen wurde. Eine Tafel mit Erläuterungen (in Englisch) zu diesem Ort und Bildern steht an der rechten Seite zur Strasse hin. Dort befindet sich auch ein Bunkerabgang und alte Wasserminen. Auf der östlichen Seite sieht man übrigens sehr schön die Landebahn des Flugplatzes Maleme, der heute Militätischer Sperrbereich ist. So bekommt diese Brücke tatsächlich auch heute noch die Bedeutung der unbedingten Anbindung zu diesem wichtigen Landeplatz. Der Fremde auf der anderen Brückenseite entpuppte sich später als ehemals englischer Soldat der Aufklärung, der hier einen Bericht für britische Veteranen angefertigt hat. Actually only known from pictures and reports and accidentally seen while driving past. Of course, curiously stopped and only hesitantly on the bridge, my wife "secured" me. Then there was also a man on the other side of the bridge and we didn't know that this bridge is freely accessible here. It's amazing how well this old bridge is still preserved, considering that there used to be fierce fighting and shooting here. A plaque with explanations (in English) of this place and pictures is on the right-hand side facing the road. There is also a bunker exit and old water mines. By the way, on the eastern side you can see the runway of the Maleme airfield, which is now a restricted military area. So this bridge actually still has the importance of the unconditional connection to this important landing site. The stranger on the other side of the bridge later turned out to be a former English soldier of the reconnaissance who made a report for British veterans here.
